43 Close the Warning dialog that indicates the selected flange is pinned.<br />

44 Using the same method, delete the flange on the opposite end of the same truss, and repeat for<br />

the remaining trusses.<br />

45 Click File menu ➤ Close.<br />

You can save the open file if you wish. In the next exercise, a new training file is supplied.<br />

Customizing Truss Parameters<br />

In this exercise, you create a custom truss for both the short and long spans by modifying the truss type<br />

parameters.<br />

Training File<br />

■ Click File menu ➤ Open.<br />

■ In the left pane of the Open dialog, click Training Files, and open<br />

<strong>Metric</strong>\m_RST_Customize_Truss_Parameters.rvt.<br />

Create a new truss type for the short span<br />

1 On the Basics tab of the Design Bar, click Truss.<br />

2 In the Type Selector, select M_Howe Flat Truss: Standard.<br />

3 On the Options Bar, click .<br />

4 In the Element Properties dialog, click Edit/New.<br />

5 In the Type Properties dialog, click Duplicate.<br />

6 In the Name dialog, enter M_Howe Flat Truss - Short Span, and click OK.<br />

7 In the Type Properties dialog, do the following:<br />

■ Under Vertical Webs, for Structural Framing Type, select M_HSS-Hollow Structural Section:<br />

HSS203.2X203.2X9.5.<br />

■ Under Diagonal Webs, for Structural Framing Type, select M_HSS-Hollow Structural Section:<br />

HSS203.2X203.2X9.5.<br />

■ Under Bottom Chords, for Angle, enter 90.<br />

■ Click OK.<br />
