Change the stiffener plate properties<br />

11 While pressing CTRL, select both stiffener plates.<br />

12 On the Options Bar, click .<br />

13 In the Element Properties dialog:<br />

■ Under Dimensions, for d, enter 50 mm.<br />

■ Click OK.<br />

14 Click File menu ➤ Close.<br />

To save changes, click File menu ➤ Save As, and save the exercise file with a unique name, or<br />

close the exercise file without saving changes. The next exercise uses a new training file.<br />

Adding an Opening to a Beam Family<br />

In this exercise, you open an existing beam family using the Family Editor. You then modify the beam by<br />

adding an opening. Finally, you load the new family into the project.<br />

Training File<br />

■ Click File menu ➤ Open.<br />

■ In the left pane of the Open dialog, click Training Files, and open<br />

<strong>Metric</strong>\m_RST_CSM_Add_Opening_in_Beam.rvt.<br />

Select the beam<br />

1 In the Project Browser, under Structural Plans, expand 3D Views, and double-click 3D View.<br />

2 On the View toolbar, click , and draw a zoom box around any beam on a lower floor.<br />
