with the idea that a juvenile who committed an offence or a juvenile who has a sociofamilial
problem in his or her past needs the positive experiences provided by this project,
in order to change his or her behaviour, to build his or her character, to increase his or her
self-confidence, to improve his or her language of social skills and to learn to express him
or herself in a right way; (2) From the Welsh part: juveniles with psycho-social difficulties
or who whish to spend their leisure time in a constructive way – clients of some young’s
centres belonging on Bridgend Municipality (5 boys and 5 girls), including duke of edinburgh’s
Foundation;
the project was set up in two stages, namely: (1) First stage, performed in arad,
romania, during the week august 17-24, 2008, under a time schedule drawn by romanian
organizers and juvenile participants; (2) second stage, performed in Bridgend, Welsh,
during a week in July 2009, under a time schedule drawn by Welsh organizers and juveniles
participants. We already finalized the first stage of this project, when the Welsh juveniles
have been in arad, romania and participated on the various activities, during a week, together
with the romanian juveniles.
Watching behind, we can say that, by our point of view as organizer, this project was
hard to be organized but it outcomes deserves to be appreciated in terms of effectiveness.
anyway, we were curious to know the juvenile’s point of view. in this respect, we requested
them to accomplish some tasks during the period between the first and the second stage.
that means: to write an essay about what the freedom means; to fulfil a journal with four
sides regarding each day spent together (1. the best thing of the day; 2. the worst thing of
the day; 3. the most impressive thing of the day; 4. the think about which someone believe
that will have a great contribution to build up his or her character). in the summer of the
year 2009, when we will go in Welsh, the romanian and the Welsh juveniles will have the
chance to see what the meanings and benefits of this project really were. and also, only
then, we – the team of probation service near by arad County Court will have the chance
to have our professional curiosity satisfied and our efforts rewarded.
Stop the Deviant Careers of Juvenile Offenders” ( 2007-2008)
probation service near by arad County Court in cooperation with Justice Ministry –
directorate of european programs and directorate of probation organized, in 2008, during
the period september 17-20, the fourth meeting of the transnational group work built up
inside the project stop Car (Stop the Deviant Careers of Juvenile Offenders). the project
is initiated by italian Ministry of Justice – Juvenile Justice department and the organization
oesse Cooperativa sociale from italy. the group work was formed by the same people
involved on the previous meetings, namely: roma – February 2007, lisbon – october 2007,
eutin – March 2008, arad – september 2008. the participants were specialists in juvenile
justice framework from italy, portugal, Germany and romania, both from the governmental
field (Justice Ministry) and civilian society (NGo-s).
the workshops connected with the fourth meeting of this project were performed
inside the building of arad County Court, but a lot of visits were organized on the other
locations, in order to help the foreign participants to touch in a better way the juvenile
justice network from romania in general and from arad County in particular. the following
