To obtain a meaningful and informative ranking, ‘often’ was valued with two points, ‘sometimes’
with one point and ‘never’ with no points. As can be seen from the table above, students appreciate
pair work and group work very much. Computer programmes are next on the list. Also showing
high attractiveness, but difficult to organise, are native speakers as teachers of English.
Furthermore, it can be seen that students would also like to take part in language courses abroad,
in work placements or exchange programmes abroad, which are of course difficult to organise
and need long-term preparation. Project work is very much in the middle of the ranking.
They would rather not or never like to work with the whole class together and teacher’s explanations
are not valued very much.
