Second year<br />

Students should be able to<br />

■ <strong>und</strong>erstand most authentic listening texts and important details.<br />

■ <strong>und</strong>erstand most authentic reading texts and develop them with the help of dictionaries.<br />

■ express themselves mostly correctly in topic-related discussions and take part in classroom<br />

conversation.<br />

■ summarise listening and reading texts and take notes as a support for speaking and easy<br />

writing.<br />

For students preparing for the Berufsreifeprüfung<br />

■ oral language use and note-taking:<br />

■ dealing with and making presentations of society relevant and professional topics (source<br />

studies, concepts and working out of complex texts)<br />

Third year<br />

Students should be able to<br />

■ <strong>und</strong>erstand classroom communication and most authentic listening texts and important<br />

details and develop them.<br />

■ <strong>und</strong>erstand most authentic reading texts supported by dealing with questions and develop<br />

them with the help of dictionaries.<br />

■ express themselves about the topic without any difficulty and mostly correctly and take<br />

part in classroom conversation.<br />

■ summarise listening and reading texts and take notes as a basis for statements and draw<br />

up easy letters with the help of sample letters.<br />

For students preparing for the Berufsreifeprüfung:<br />

■ oral language use and note-taking:<br />

■ dealing with and making presentations of topics of relevance for society and professional<br />

topics (source studies, concepts and working out complex texts)<br />

CONTENT<br />

The following topics should be dealt with in every year according to the mentioned educational<br />

and teaching objectives at different grades of difficulty:<br />

a) Economy and working environment: job, work place, colleagues, education, area of responsibility,<br />

working conditions, job related contacts, correspondence, job application, safety and<br />

environmental issues<br />

b) Every day life and actual events: self portrait, family and friends, style of living, sports, health<br />

and social affairs, food and drinks, locations, personal interests, spare time activities, travelling<br />

and tourism, shopping, national and international events<br />
