9. Combination of Solutions
As already mentioned in Section 7.5.5 the constraints for pre-eliminated parameters have
to be selected with care because later they never can be changed again.
Detailed information on the parameter pre-elimination is provided in the program output if
the option “Print detailed list of all parameter manipulations” in panel “ADDNEQ2 3.2: Options 2”
(see Figure 9.6) is enabled. See the on-line help for a description of the output.
9.4.5 Change of Parameter Interval Length
Time dependent parameters are consequently modeled in ADDNEQ2 as piece-wise linear,
i.e., continuous functions. Parameters are estimated at regularly spaced time intervals.
Between these nodal points they are modeled by linear functions. The options in panel
“ADDNEQ2 8: Interval Length of Parameters” (see Figure 9.10) allow it to reduce the time resolution
of the representation for troposphere and Earth orientation parameters by modifying
the spacing of the parameters. The panel is activated if option “Change parameter spacing” in
panel “ADDNEQ2 3.1: Options 1” is enabled.
It is only possible to reduce the number of parameters by removing existing parameters. In
this case the parameterization can be transformed to the new situation leading again to a
piece-wise linear parameterization, see Section 9.3.7. This means that the spacing you specify
must be an integer multiple of the original spacing. You may change a 2-hourly troposphere
representation into a 4-hourly representation, but not into a 3-hourly representation.
In addition, the offset of the parameters with respect to the beginning of the session can
be specified in the field “REFERENCE EPOCH FOR PARAMETER INTERVALS”. This option is
Figure 9.10: Modification of interval length of piece-wise linear parameterization.
