4.4 Precise Orbit Files
Figure 4.7 shows an example for a precise orbit file in SP3c-format. Consult Section 4.12
for information on downloading precise GNSS orbit files from IGS or CODE.
4.4.2 Import/Export
The precise orbit files may either be used directly in program ORBGEN to generate a Bernese
standard orbit file (default extension STD, see Section 22.7.4) or to generate a so-called
tabular file (default extension TAB, see Section 22.7.3) with program PRETAB. Program
STDPRE (”Menu>Orbits/EOP>Convert standard to precise orbits”) transforms a Bernese standard orbit
file into a precise orbit file (SP3 or SP3c). For details see Sections 5.4 and 15.2.3.
4.4.3 Utilities
You may cut or concatenate precise orbit files using program CCPREORB (”Menu>Orbits/EOP
>Cut/concatenate precise orbit files”). A main application is to merge orbits (e.g., of GLONASS
satellites) into an existing precise file (e.g., of GPS orbits). For details see Section 5.6.1.
