23. Installation Guide
Configure menu: 2. . .Add a new User
The user area is installed. At first the directory structure for the Bernese user environments
is created at the location defined by the variables ${U} and ${T}. They are previously
defined by creating the ${X}/EXE/LOADGPS.setvar-file during the installation:
${U}/PAN program specific input options (initially a copy of ${X}/PAN),
${U}/OUT output directory for campaign-independent output files,
${U}/OPT your option sets (initially a copy of${X}/OPT, containing the option directory
for the EXAMPLE-campaign),
${U}/PCF directory of user specific Process Control Files for the BPE (initially a copy
of ${X}/PCF for the EXAMPLE-BPEs),
${U}/SCRIPT contains the user specific scripts necessary for the PCF’s (initially a copy of
${X}/USERSCPT, for the EXAMPLE-BPEs), and
${U}/WORK user specific files generated during interactive work.
${T} directory for temporary files used by the BPE.
If you are going to create an user environment for a new user after the installation,
the Bernese environment must be loaded by this user before starting the
${X}/EXE/configure.pm-tool. The variables ${U} and ${T} point to user-specific directories
of the current user (see remarks on 1 . . . Update LOADGPS.setvar).
> source /home/bern_admin/BERN50/GPS/EXE/LOADGPS.setvar
> echo $U
/home/new_user/GPSUSER
> $X/EXE/configure.pm
(Adapt the commands for this operation depending on the location of the software and your
shell.)
Configure menu: 3. . .Compile Bernese menu
The menu will be compiled. The following remark appears on the screen:
> Running the compilation of the Menu.
> It can take a while ...
> It depends on the computer performance.
>
> All compilation output is redirected into file
> /home/bern50/BERN50/MENU/MENUCOMP.log
The compilation of the menu can take up to fifteen minutes. Finally, the successful compilation
is indicated by:
