It is important to know that • program SNGDIF forms baselines only from zero-difference observation files belonging to the same session, and • program GPSEST considers correlations between observations of the same session only. The session identifier in the observation header file is defined when importing the data from the observation RINEX files with program RXOBV3 (see Section 4.2.3). 3.4 Create Station Files A default session table is copied into the new campaign (${P}/MYCAMP/STA/SESSIONS.SES) when the subdirectories are created (see Section 3.1). Use ”Menu>Campaign>Edit session table” to check and adapt the entries. The default settings work well for a 24-hour processing scheme. Two types of session tables exist: • The fixed session table explicitly defines each session to be processed by a separate entry. • The open session table uses wildcards (???) which are automatically replaced by the day of year according to the current session. The session table contains one line for each session of a day. A mixture between the two types is not permitted. In Figure 3.1 two examples for open session tables referring to a daily session and to hourly sessions are shown. We recommend to use the open session definition. More information about the session definition strategy may be found in the corresponding online help. Use dialogue ”Menu>Configure>Set session/compute date” to select one of your sessions as the current session to be processed. This is mandatory for Version 5.0 of Bernese GPS Software in order to use the menu variables (see Section 18.5). The current session is displayed in the status line of the menu. The session selection dialogue may also be used to convert dates (button COMPUTE). The current session is set using the buttons Set (dialogue box remains open) or OK (dialogue box is closed). Using the buttons +1 and -1 you may increment or decrement the current day by one. The session character may be specified in field “Session Char”, the name of a session table in field “Session Table”. In field “Job ID” a job identification character may be specified. This Job ID can be used to distinguish multiple input files for a given program. It is appended to the extension of the input files in your user specific panel directory (e.g., ${U}/PAN/GPSEST.INP T1). In this way it is possible to predefine panels with different settings of options for the same program which you may in the following address with the job identification character. The Job ID defines the value of the predefined menu variable $J (see Section 18.5.1), which you may use in all input panels. It may be used, e.g., to easily distinguish the temporary file if you run the same program more than once at the same time. Technically, there are no restrictions about the length of the Job ID. We recommend to use not more than two characters. 3.4 Create Station Files For a number of station files the menu of the Bernese GPS Software, Version 5.0 , provides input masks for editing (”Menu>Campaign>Edit station files”). This is a convenient way for most applications. Because all station files are ASCII files you can use your favorite text editor for browsing and modifying, too. Take care on the file format in this case. When creating a new station file a dialogue “Select Skeleton Coordinate File” appears for most file types. Cancel the dialogue box to get a plain input mask for the new station file. If you select a coordinate file all its station names are inserted into the input mask as default in the station name columns for the new file to be created.
