22.10.2 Normal Equation Files
22.10 Miscellaneous Files
Type: Binary
Directory: Campaign-specific directory SOL.
Extension: NQ0
Content: Normal equations and important a priori information.
Created by: GPSEST (”Menu>Processing>Parameter estimation”), ADDNEQ2 (”Menu>Processing
>Normal equation stacking”), SNX2NQ0 (”Menu>Conversion>SINEX to normal equations”),
and NEQ2NQ0 (”Menu>Conversion>Version 4.2 to 5.0>Normal equations (old to new format)”).
Used by: ADDNEQ2 to combine sequential solutions.
Example: EXAMPLE.FN0 in ${X}/DOC is an example for an ASCII image of a normal
equation file.
Normal equation files contain important information concerning the parameter characterization,
the a priori values used, as well as the normal equations including solution vector
computed by programs GPSEST and ADDNEQ2. For more information on normal equations
we refer to Chapter 9.
To transform binary normal equation files into ASCII files and vice versa (necessary if
you have to change the computer platform), you can use the program NEQ2ASC in ”Menu
>Conversion>Normal equations (binary/ASCII)”. If you want to use old normal equation files from the
old ADDNEQ program (extension NEQ) you have to convert them into the new format with
NEQ2NQ0 (”Menu>Conversion>Version 4.2 to 5.0>Normal equations (old to new format)”), see Section 24.2.3.
NQ0 files from ADDNEQ2 in Version 4.2 can be read by Version 5.0 programs.
22.10.3 SINEX File
Type: ASCII
Directory: Campaign-specific directory SOL.
Extension: SNX
Content: Coordinates, velocities, and ERPs in the Software INdependent EXchange
format (SINEX) Version 2.02.
Created by: ADDNEQ2 (”Menu>Processing>Normal equation stacking”).
Used by: SNX2NQ0 (”Menu>Conversion>SINEX to normal equations”), SNX2STA (”Menu>Conversion
>SINEX to station information”). IGS Global Network Associated Analysis Centers
(GNAACs) to combine global solutions with regional GNSS solutions. Also
the official format for the coordinate and velocity submissions to IERS.
Example: Example files are available in the anonymous CODE ftp area (see Section 4.12;
weekly European combined solutions as well as the weekly global solutions)
or at CDDIS for different other IGS Analysis Centers.
See Section 4.6 for more details and [Kouba et al., 1996] or http://www.iers.
org/IERS/EN/Organization/AnalysisCoordinator/SinexFormat/sinex.html for a format
definition.
General information is included in the SINEX files with help of the general file
${X}/GEN/SINEX.(see Section 22.4.14).
