20. Processing Examples
20.1 Introduction
The distribution of the Bernese GPS Software contains processing examples using the
Bernese Processing Engine (BPE), consisting of data, user scripts and four process control
files (PCF). The BPE allows to automatically process data following a scheme laid out in
the PCF. The purpose of these examples is to verify the installation, and to demonstrate
how to solve standard processing tasks with the Bernese GPS Software. Looking through
the examples, you will find many hints and ideas on how to solve specific problems with the
BPE.
This chapter first describes the dataset of the example campaign, informs how to run the
example PCFs for verification of the software installation, and describes the PCFs for the
four standard applications:
• precise-point positioning (PPP.PCF).
This PCF serves to generate a priori information for further processing,
• double-difference processing (RNX2SNX.PCF).
This is the default procedure for most cases (coordinate or troposphere results),
• baseline test (BASTST.PCF).
This is an example of a straightforward PCF for baseline-wise processing (e.g., ambiguity
resolution),
• zero-difference processing example (CLKDET.PCF).
It may be used for clock estimation.
At the end, we describe how to process your own data with the PCFs provided. Thus,
the furnished examples open the gates to highly sophisticated, state of the art GPS data
processing using one of the most powerful software packages.
The examples are ready to run. All necessary files, including program option files, are
provided, with the exception of the JPL DE200 ephemeris needed for the orbit integration
by ORBGEN. Please follow the instructions in the ${X}/DOC/DE200.readme file in order to
create this file.
Each example PCF contains a general description and comments in its header, that can
be read by opening the file in a text editor. The PCFs are located in ${U}/PCF. While
going through the detailed description of the PCFs in this chapter, it is recommended to
