23.2.2 Questionnaire Before Starting the Installation
Before you start the installation of the Bernese GPS Software, Version 5.0 , you have to
know in which directories the software should be installed:
• The directory for the source code (e.g.,/home/bern admin/BERN50) must be accessible
for (reading and execution) from all users which will work with the software and from
all hosts where the BPE will be run.
• The directory for the user files (e.g., ${HOME}/GPSUSER) is individual for each user of
the software. It must be accessible from all hosts accessed by the BPE.
• The directory for temporary files (e.g., ${HOME}/GPSTEMP) is necessary to run the
BPE and is user-specific. This directory needs to exist on all hosts accessed by the
BPE (but it can be on physically different disks). A fast disk with enough space is
preferable (each script running simultaneously in the BPE may produce a scratch file
with a size of up to 2 Gb),
• The directory for the campaigns (e.g., /bigdisk/GPSDATA) must be accessible from
all hosts accessed by the BPE.
