23. Installation Guide 23.1 Installation Guide for Windows Platforms Do not install any files of Version 5.0 into existing Version 4.2 -directories. You will loose the existing version by doing this. 23.1.1 Requirements Hardware Requirements • Pentium class CPU • 128 MBytes RAM minimum for SMALL and MEDIUM memory model, 512 MBytes RAM recommended for LARGE memory model • The installation itself requires about 300 MBytes. Provide sufficient space for your own data later on GPSDATA. Temporary scratch files in TEMPV50 generated during processing can reach 2 GBytes. Operating Systems The Bernese GPS Software, Version 5.0 runs on the following Windows versions (in brackets, the exact test versions are given): • MS-Windows 7 Enterprise (32bit, Version 6.1.7600) • MS-Windows Vista Business edition • MS-Windows XP (Home edition, version 2002, SP1; prof. edition, 5.1.2600, SP2) • MS-Windows 2000 (Version 5.00.2195, SP 4) Test criteria were the reproduction of the reference solutions is given in the example campaigns. Software Requirements Perl: The BPE Version 5.0 needs Perl as scripting language, and it is also required to run the compilation scripts if you need to recompile the software (or parts of it).
