23.1 Installation Guide for Windows Platforms<br />

Do not install any files of <strong>Version</strong> <strong>5.0</strong> into existing <strong>Version</strong> 4.2 -directories. You will loose<br />

the existing version by doing this.<br />

23.1.1 Requirements<br />

Hardware Requirements<br />

• Pentium class CPU<br />

• 128 MBytes RAM minimum for SMALL and MEDIUM memory model,<br />

512 MBytes RAM recommended for LARGE memory model<br />

• The installation itself requires about 300 MBytes. Provide sufficient space for your<br />

own data later on <strong>GPS</strong>DATA. Temporary scratch files in TEMPV50 generated during<br />

processing can reach 2 GBytes.<br />

Operating Systems<br />

The <strong>Bernese</strong> <strong>GPS</strong> <strong>Software</strong>, <strong>Version</strong> <strong>5.0</strong> runs on the following Windows versions (in brackets,<br />

the exact test versions are given):<br />

• MS-Windows 7 Enterprise (32bit, <strong>Version</strong> 6.1.7600)<br />

• MS-Windows Vista Business edition<br />

• MS-Windows XP (Home edition, version 2002, SP1; prof. edition, 5.1.2600, SP2)<br />

• MS-Windows 2000 (<strong>Version</strong> <strong>5.0</strong>0.2195, SP 4)<br />

Test criteria were the reproduction of the reference solutions is given in the example campaigns.<br />

<strong>Software</strong> Requirements<br />

Perl: The BPE <strong>Version</strong> <strong>5.0</strong> needs Perl as scripting language, and it is also required to run<br />

the compilation scripts if you need to recompile the software (or parts of it). You can<br />

get a free distribution of Perl (v 5.6.1 or later) at http://www.activestate.com.<br />

Perl requires about 50 MBytes of disk space.<br />
