21. Program Structure
(program GPSEST) and on the superposition of normal equation systems (program
ADDNEQ2).
• ”Menu>Service”: The sub-menu contains a simulator for GNSS observations (Simulation
Part, program GPSSIM) as well as the Service Part as a collection of a number of
tools to browse binary observation files, check residuals, compare and manipulate
coordinates, for automated processing, and many more. This menu item also provides
the possibility to browse program output and error message files.
• ”Menu>Conversion”: The Conversion Part collects programs to convert binary files into
ASCII format and vice versa. Additional programs allow to convert SINEX files into
normal equation files, to extract station information from SINEX, or to manipulate
troposphere SINEX files. Finally, programs are provided to convert files from the
old Version 4.2 format to the new format used in Version 5.0 of the Bernese GPS
Software.
The Table 21.1 gives an overview and a short description of the individual program units
of the four parts of the software. All programs included in the menu are accompanied by
an extended html-based on-line help.
To run programs which are not included in the menu system (section “Programs which are
not directly accessible through the menu system” in Table 21.1), you may use the RUNGPS
command (see Section 18.8). In that case the menu system will start up and display the
input file of the program you have specified.
In the section “Miscellaneous programs” in the table above, tools are listed which are menu
interface and BPE programs. These programs are called either automatically by the menu
(MENUAUX, see Section 18.9.5) or by the BPE and the corresponding BPE scripts (see
Chapter 19).
