24. The Step from Version 4.2 to Version 5.0
24.2 Convert a Campaign from Version 4.2 to Version 5.0
24.2.1 General Campaign Settings
Add the name of the campaign to the list of campaigns (”Menu>Campaign>Edit list of campaigns”)
and select it as active campaign (”Menu>Campaign>Select active campaign”). You will get a message
that no session table is available in your actual campaign. Do not worry about it at this
point, the new session table will be created in the next step.
Copy the default session table from ${X}/SKL/SESSIONS.SES into the STA-directory of your
campaign. Make sure that the name of the session table in the ”Menu>Configure>Set session/compute
date” dialogue is SESSIONS.SES. Copy the entries from your old session table into the new
file STA/SESSIONS.SES. This step must be done manually with ”Menu>Campaign>Edit session
table”. Consult the online help and Sections 3.3 for more information on session definition in
Version 5.0 of the Bernese GPS Software.
24.2.2 Adapt the Directory Structure
There are two new campaign subdirectories in Version 5.0 :
BPE-directory: containing all output files from the BPE (see Chapter 19 for more details)
and
SOL-directory: containing solution files, in particular Bernese normal equation files (default
extensions NEQ and NQ0) and SINEX files (default extension SNX). Copy
them from the OUT-directory of the campaign to this new location.
Earth orientation files (default extensionsERP andIEP) are now located in theORB-directory
of the campaign. Copy them from ${X}/GEN (from your Version 4.2 !) to this campaignspecific
directory. Resulting files from the estimation of Earth rotation parameters are not
written in the OUT-directory anymore but also in the ORB-directory.
The DATPAN-directory has been removed because it is obsolete in Version 5.0 . The session
table has been moved to the STA-directory (default name STA/SESSIONS.SES, see above).
The abbreviation table is now a Bernese style text file located in the STA-directory instead
of a menu-panel file as in Version 4.2 and earlier.
24.2.3 File Conversions
A number of files need to be converted using the corresponding conversion programs:
Normal equation files: The format of the binary normal equation files has been changed
between the old ADDNEQ (Version 4.2 ) and the new ADDNEQ2 (Version 5.0 ). The
files have to be converted using program NEQ2NQ0 (”Menu>Conversion>Version 4.2 to 5.0
>Normal equations (old to new format)”). You may select a list of normal equation files to be
converted in one program run.
The formatted version of the old normal equation files can be converted to the binary
version even using Bernese GPS Software in Version 5.0 . The program NEQFMT is
