14. Clock Estimation
14.3 Clock RINEX Utility in Bernese GPS Software (CCRNXC)
Four programs in the Bernese GPS Software, Version 5.0 , write clock RINEX files:
CODSPP may store the used satellite clock corrections together with the estimated station
clocks into a clock RINEX file (see Section 6.3).
GPSEST may save the results of the epoch-wise satellite/station clock estimation into a
clock RINEX file (see Section 14.2).
CLKEST may be used for efficiently compute high-rate clocks (see Section 14.5).
CCRNXC manipulates clock RINEX files and may write the results into a clock RINEX file
again.
In Version 5.0 the clock RINEX format is used also as internal clock format of the Bernese
GPS Software if satellite and station clocks have to be stored together.
Only the program CCRNXC (”Menu>RINEX>RINEX utilities>Combine/manipulate clock data”) is able to
read clock RINEX files. It is the clock RINEX utility of the Bernese GPS Software and
may be used to
• import clock RINEX files from external sources to extract the satellite clock information
into a Bernese satellite clock file,
• cut/concatenate clock RINEX files as well as to extract selected clocks from input
files,
• merge or combine clock RINEX files,
• compare clock RINEX files,
• select a reference clock and align the clock values to this reference,
• detect jumps in the clock time series, and
• extrapolate clock time series.
The program provides a lot of options. They are explained in the following sections for some
standard applications.
14.3.1 Extracting Satellite Clocks from Clock RINEX Files
The extraction of satellite clock corrections from an input clock RINEX file and writing of
a corresponding Bernese satellite clock file is very simple. Mark the checkbox “Extract only
satellite clocks” in panel “CCRNXC 1: Filenames”. The satellite clock values from each input
clock RINEX file are copied without any modifications into a Bernese satellite clock file
with the same name as the input file but in a different directory. By default clock RINEX
files are located in the campaigns OUT-directory while Bernese clock files are located in the
ORB-directory.
