23.2 Installation Guide for UNIX Platforms
to download the archive. If this program is not available on your system the following screen
is displayed:
Installation found in /home/bern_admin/BERN50!
Environment found!
------------------
Download the file update_27-Jun-2006.tar.Z from:
http://www.bernese.unibe.ch/UPDATE
User name: ???????? (case sensitive)
to /home/bern_admin
-------------------
Use CTRL-C to abort or press ENTER when finished ...
Please download the archive manually in that case and locate it as requested to your
${HOME}-directory. The update archive is installed into your system.
Please note, that the updating tool brings you only from one release level to the next one.
Thus you will have to install several updates to bring your software to the latest status,
eventually. For instance, to update from the release “30-May-2008” to the current status
you have to download and install the archives “15-May-2009” and “02-Jul-2009”. Your
software is up-to-date if the script requests an archive that is not yet available on the table
of http://www.bernese.unibe.ch/UPDATE (e.g., “18-Feb-2010”).
To make the update active you have to recompile the complete software using the COMPLINK
command. To finalize the update you may have to update some of the program input panels
in the ${U}/PAN as well as ${U}/OPT/* directories of each user with ”Menu>Configure>Update
input files”.
The software update may also have an effect on the processing example. The latest version
with the reference files computed with the actual software release may be downloaded at
ftp://ftp.unibe.ch/aiub/BERN50/EXAMPLE.taz (UNIX-compressed tar-archive). Copy
the archive into ${X}/DOC-directory and start the ${X}/EXE/configure.pm to install it
into your system (menu item: 5. ..Install Example Campaign).
