${U}/PAN The Bernese input files and the so-called CPU file (see Section
19.4).
${U}/PCF The so-called Process Control Files (see Section 19.5).
${U}/SCRIPT The so-called user scripts (see Section 19.6).
${U}/OPT Subdirectories with input files prepared for the various BPE
processes (see Section 19.7).
(3) Campaign-directories (e.g., ${P}, ${Q}, and subdirectories). All the campaign-specific
data are located here. By default the BPE results (the so-called protocol files – see
Section 19.10) are stored in these directories, too.
(4) Temporary area (${T}, and subdirectories). This area is used by BPE clients during
their run. It contains a temporary copy of a part of the ${U} area. After being successfully
finished the BPE client removes all temporary files unless the “no clean” option
is used in ”Menu>BPE>Start BPE process”.
19.3.1 BPE Server
The BPE server is the central part of the new BPE. It is written in C++ (using the classes
from the Qt network module) and is part of the Bernese menu program. The executable
resides in the ${XQ} directory.
