4.2 RINEX Observation Files
responding entry to the section TYPE 003: HANDLING OF STATION PROBLEMS of the station
information file (see Section 22.8.3). 1 Observations of particular satellites may be excluded
by adding a “bad data” entry in the satellite problem file (see Section 6.7.2).
The “Receiver information” file contains the information on the receiver’s tracking technology.
From this either the P-code or the C/A-code is extracted from the RINEX into the Bernese
code observation file. The L2C-code currently (January 2007) provided by the three modernized
Block IIR-M GPS satellites (G12, G17, G31) is ignored by the program RXOBV3.
4.2.3.2 Station Name
RXOBV3 stores the station name in the Bernese observation file header. It is important
that this name is unique. In particular, it has to correspond to the station name used
in the coordinate file. RXOBV3 allows to gather information on the station name from
different sources in the RINEX file. Additionally, a station information file can be used to
translate this name to a well-defined station name and to report possible inconsistencies
(see Section 4.2.3.4).
The header of a RINEX file contains two keywords which allow to identify the station,
namely MARKER NAME and MARKER NUMBER. In addition the first four characters of the filename
may be used to identify the station. The user may select one of the following options
(“Gather station names from” in panel “RXOBV3 2: Input Options 1”, Figure 4.2):
