Installation Guide BERN50 : $C = D:\BERN50 GPSUSER: $U = D:\GPSUSER GPSTEMP: $T = D:\GPSTEMP GPSDATA: $P = E:\GPSDATA A file "C\BSW50env.bat" was created containing all environment variables needed to run Bernese GPS Software, Version 5.0. Load the environment when starting the computer by adding the following lines to your "C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT"-file: REM Load Bernese Software Environment CALL C:\BSW50env.bat Restart your computer to make these changes active. If the obtained paths are incorrect or if you wish to adapt them (especially if they are set to unknown, or if they point to Version 4.2 -directories), you have to edit the first four entries in the file C:\BSW50env.bat: REM Path to campaign directory REM -------------------------set P=E:\GPSDATA REM Path to user environment REM -----------------------set U=D:\GPSUSER REM Path to temp. user environment REM -----------------------------set T=D:\GPSTEMP REM Path to the Bernese software REM ---------------------------set C=D:\BERN50 If this is ok, you can place a call to C:\BSW50env.bat in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file to load C:\BSW50env.bat automatically at boot-up. After reboot, the Bernese GPS Software Version 5.0 is ready to run. Check the availability of the environment variables. Open a command prompt and type C\:> echo %C% The answer of the system must be the location of the main program tree of the Bernese GPS Software (...\BERN50). 23.1.4 Additional Remarks 23.1.4.1 DE200-Ephemerides from JPL The availability of the DE200-ephemerides is necessary to run the examples of the Bernese GPS Software, Version 5.0 . 23.1.4.2 Add a new Campaign Directory 23.1 Installation Guide for Windows Platforms For adding another campaign directory you have to define an additional variable (e.g., %Q%) in the Windows registry (Windows Control Panel > System > Advanced > Environment Variables. Furthermore it has to be added to the list of variables in BERNESE VARIABLES registry entry. In addition each user has to add this variable in his list of “ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES” in the first panel of ”Menu>Configure>Menu variables”. To process data from this new campaign directory with a BPE you have to add this variable to the MENU VAR.INP files in all ${U}/OPT directories. 23.1.4.3 Memory Model The size of the arrays in the Fortran programs has a direct consequence on the memory consumption of the running executables. We have prepared three memory models for different sized arrays (executables). The SMALL memory model is capable to process a network with a small number of baselines (less than 10), only. The MEDIUM memory model is suitable for small regional networks, whereas the LARGE memory model is intended to be used for large global networks. It is preferable to select the memory model according to the RAM in your machine to prevent the use of swap memory during the program run. The model used is defined by the environment variable %MEMSIZE% at compile time (see Section 23.1.5). Approximate size of GPSEST for different memory models: SMALL: 40 MByte MEDIUM: 80 MByte LARGE: 500 MByte On Windows the MEDIUM memory model is installed by default. The executables for all three memory models are available in ZIP-archives on the CD’s ZIPEXE-directory. To change the memory model extract the executables from the corresponding archive exe s.zip for SMALL memory model, exe m.zip for MEDIUM memory model, or, exe l.zip for LARGE memory model into your %XG%-directory. 23.1.5 Compiling the Software The installation CD provides the fully compiled source code. Therefore, there is no need to have any compiler installed on your machine to get Bernese running. We have used the • Lahey/Fujitsu Fortran 95 Compiler LF95 Release 5.60h to compile the Fortran part of the Bernese GPS Software.
