Installation Guide 23.1.2 Contents of the Distribution The Bernese GPS Software distribution media contains the following files: content.txt Content of the CD-ROM README\install.txt Installation guide README\jplDE200.txt Instructions to generate the DE200.EPH-file README\startup.txt Description of the first steps with the new Bernese GPS Software, Version 5.0 README\DOCU50.pdf Bernese GPS Software, Version 5.0 , user manual README\antex.pdf Information on absolute and relative antenna phase center modeling README\update.pdf Description of the update procedure of the Bernese GPS Software SETUP\BSW50.EXE Installs the main program tree (BERN50) SETUP\GPSUSER.EXE Installs the directory structure for the user environment (GPSUSER) SETUP\GPSDATA.EXE Installs the campaign structure, and the examples (GPSDATA, in Version 4.2 , this was the BERN42\CAMPAIGN directory) SETUP\win9Xadd.pl Perl-script to generate a file defining the Bernese environment variables (only necessary for Windows 9x systems) ZIPEXE\EXE S.ZIP Zip archive of the executables with SMALL memory model ZIPEXE\EXE M.ZIP Zip archive of the executables with MEDIUM memory model ZIPEXE\EXE L.ZIP Zip archive of the executables with LARGE memory model In the following, we assume that you install from the CD, or from the directory into which you have downloaded the distribution files. 23.1.3 Installation from CD Installation is supported by a setup wizard. You do not need administrator privileges on your machine. The installation consists of executing the 3 installation archive files from the CD. You need to install all three of them in the following order, to properly use Bernese GPS Software, Version 5.0 : (1) Change into the SETUP-directory of the CD. (2) Install the main program tree by executing BSW50.EXE. (3) Install the user environment by executing GPSUSER.EXE. (4) Install the campaign structure by executing GPSDATA.EXE. (5) Windows 9x users have to generate the environment file C:\BSW50env.bat. These steps are described in detail in the following sections. Page 554 AIUB
23.1.3.1 Installation of Main Program Tree Start installation by double click on BSW50.EXE. 23.1 Installation Guide for Windows Platforms This setup wizard will allow you to select the destination directory for the Bernese GPS Software main program tree containing the processing programs, the menu program, as well as general user and campaign independent files: ...\BERN50\INC contains the Fortran include files and modules ...\BERN50\LIB contains the Fortran library routines ...\BERN50\PGM contains the Fortran main processing programs ...\BERN50\MENU contains the user interface (menu program) ...\BERN50\GPS contains general files, help, documentation, master input panels, scripts, etc. ...\BERN50\BPE contains the main BPE Perl modules and scripts The installation sets up new user specific environment variables in the Windows registry (HKCU\Environment registry key). They are only valid for the account under which Bernese GPS Software Version 5.0 is installed. These variables are: C location of ...\BERN50, depending on your choice during installation I location of Fortran include modules %C%\INC\FOR LG location of Fortran library modules routines %C%\LIB\FOR FG location of main program sources %C%\PGM\FOR XG location of the main program executables %C%\PGM\EXE XQ location of the menu executable %C%\MENU X location of the general directory %C%\GPS U location of the user environment area, at this stage, this points to C:\TEMPV50 (in the end it will be ...\GPSUSER) T location of temporary directory for BPE (C:\TEMPV50) USER value of the Windows USER NAME variable, or HOST for Windows 9x systems (will be displayed in the header of the program output files) BPE location of the BPE client scripts %C%\BPE BERNESE VARIABLES “P T X U USER” BPE SERVER HOST localhost (name of host for BPE, i.e. this machine) F VERS LF95 or OTHER (compiler name, only for compilation) MEMSIZE MEDIUM (memory model for compilation) OS NAME WIN32 (operating system name for compilation) If you wish to change any of these variables after the installation (particularly the %T% variable), go to Windows Control Panel > System > Advanced > Environment Variables and adapt the settings in the User variables part. After successful installation of BSW50.EXE, the Bernese 5.0 icon should appear on your desktop, as well as a new entry in your start menu (but it doesn’t work at this moment).
