23. Installation Guide If you have a Fortran 90 compiler installed you are referred to Section 23.1.5 for compiling the software. To recompile the Bernese menu a C++-compiler and the QT-library are required. There is no free version of the QT-library for Windows available. This does not matter because there is absolutely no need for you to recompile the menu. Compilation of Individual Modules In some cases, it is desirable to be able to compile the software. If you have the Lahey/Fujitsu Fortran 95 compiler installed you can recompile modules of the Bernese GPS Software, Version 5.0 without problems using the provided Perl compile scripts. If you have another Fortran 90 compiler installed, you will need to adapt the file %X%\EXE\CMPOPT.pl where the compiler and its options are defined. You can use the implemented compilers as model and need to have your compiler manual ready. See section OTHER in %X%\EXE\CMPOPT.pl. Redefine the environment variable F VERS to OTHER in that case. Since we do not deliver the binary library, you will have to do a complete compile of the software initially (see case 1 below). Later on, you can compile individual modules. If you make any changes in the source files of the software you have to distinguish three cases: (1) Change in an include or module file (directory %I%): You have to recompile the full source code using the command perl %X%\EXE\COMPLINK, because the modules and include files are used by several subroutines and programs. (2) Change in one of the subroutines (directory %LG%): • If you have changed the parameter list for a subroutine you have to check whether an interface definition exists in %I%\I GPSLIB.f90. Adapt the interface and recompile the full source code using the command perl %X%\EXE\COMPLINK. • Otherwise it is only necessary to recompile the subroutine using %X%\EXE\CLIB and after that to link all main programs that are calling the subroutine, using the command %X%\EXE\CMAIN . (3) Change in one of the programs (directory %FG%): If code changes in a main program were done it is sufficient to compile and link this program using the command %X%\EXE\CMAIN . To recompile all subroutines use the command perl %X%\EXE\CMPLIB.pl LIB ALL. The command perl %X%\EXE\CLPGM.pl ANY ALL recompiles and links all main programs. 23.1.6 Updating the Software Even if the Bernese GPS Software is well tested due to the daily use in the routine processing of CODE the software may still contain some bugs. New developments within the IGS require modifications in Version 5.0 of Bernese GPS Software. Such bug-fixes and modifications are announced in the support section of http://www.bernese.unibe.ch. 23.1 Installation Guide for Windows Platforms From time to time a new release is prepared containing all these bug-fixes and software improvements. An updating utility is provided to bring your software to the current releaselevel. It is either available at %X%\EXE\bsw50updater.pm or may be downloaded from http: //www.bernese.unibe.ch. You have to start this tool from the command line calling C:\> perl %X%\EXE\bsw50updater.pm It checks your installation, extracts a user and password from the source code, and figures out the release status of your software from the source code 1 . The program now displays the following screen: Installation found in C:\BERN50! Environment found! ------------------ Download the file update_27-Jun-2006.zip from: http://www.bernese.unibe.ch/UPDATE User name: ???????? (case sensitive) Password: ???????? (case sensitive) to C:\BERN50 ------------------- Use CTRL-C to abort or press ENTER when finished ... Please download the archive manually and locate it as requested at %C%, e.g., C:\BERN50. Now you need one of the following programs to extract the archive: • winzip version 10 with command line support, • 7-zip (the executable must be included in the %PATH%-variable), or • unzip According to your choice one of these programs is used to install the update archive into your system. Please note, that the updating tool brings you only from one release level to the next one. Thus you will have to install several updates to bring your software to the latest status, eventually. For instance, to update from the release “30-May-2008” to the current status you have to download and install the archives “15-May-2009” and “02-Jul-2009”. Your software is up-to-date if the script requests an archive that is not yet available on the table of http://www.bernese.unibe.ch/UPDATE (e.g., “18-Feb-2010”). 1 The about box of the menu – method t mainwin::slotAbout in subroutine %XQ%\mainwin2.cpp – contains the release date.
