20.4 Description of the Processing Examples<br />

changing the PCF variables V PLUS and V MINUS. Amongst others the program provides<br />

an overview of the coordinate repeatability between subsequent sessions. The<br />

output and summary file created in this step are included in the processing summary.<br />

A bad repeatability indicates possible environmental, station, or processing problems.<br />

It also may be caused by geophysical phenomena (e.g., Earthquake).<br />

PID 514 HELMR1: The estimated coordinates of all involved fiducial sites are verified by<br />

the means of a three parameter Helmert transformation. If discrepancies are detected<br />

– based on the options in “HELMR1 3: Outlier Rejection” – the solution is recomputed<br />

starting over from PID 511 with a reduced set of fiducial sites. The output file from<br />

HELMR1 is included in the processing summary and may be helpful to identify problems<br />

concerning the reference sites and datum definition in general. The three translation<br />

components should be zero, the residuals below 1 cm. Rejected reference sites<br />

are listed.<br />

PID 521 ADDNEQ2: A size reduced normal equation file is produced by pre-eliminating<br />

the troposphere parameters and horizontal gradients from the system. Thus, only<br />

coordinate parameters remain in the resulting normal equation file.<br />

PID 522 <strong>GPS</strong>XTR: A summary is extracted from the output of the final solution. It is listed<br />

in the processing summary (solution name R1 yyssss). The a posteriori rms value<br />

should be the same as in PID 512.<br />

The first <strong>GPS</strong>EST is used to create normal equations, only. No other result files are written.<br />

The final coordinate and troposphere results are computed with program ADDNEQ2 due to<br />

its more sophisticated datum definition capabilities. The final SINEX file should only contain<br />

coordinates and is therefore written during the size reduction step, where the troposphere<br />

parameters are pre-eliminated. The fiducial site verification loop (PIDs 511–514) is repeated<br />

until all reference stations are accepted or until only one station remains. If you want to<br />

rely on only one station for datum definition, step PID 514 may be skipped.<br />

In the last part of the PCF an analysis protocol is created, results are saved, and dispensable<br />

output files are removed. No <strong>Bernese</strong> programs are started here, anymore. A similar sequence<br />

of scripts will most probably complete all your PCFs.<br />
