The Government of the King fully appreciates<br />
the great importance of maintaining the<br />
excellent relations which have long existed<br />
between our two countries, and hopes to see<br />
them strengthened and developed in the future.<br />
The Government of the King therefore requests<br />
me to express, on this occasion, its keen desire<br />
to enter, at the convenience of the Spanish<br />
Government, into negotiations for concluding<br />
a new Commercial <strong>Treaty</strong>.<br />

MADRID, 9 de Noviembre de 1920.<br />
Muy Sefior mio : He recibido la atenta Nota de V. E. de 3 del corriente por la que se sirve<br />
participarme que deseando el Gobierno de Noruega recabar su libertad de acci6n en lo referente<br />
al comercio exterior, ha resuelto poner t~rmino A la pr6rroga de los Convenios comerciales concertados<br />
entre Espafia y dicha Naci6n el 27 de Junio de 1892 y el 25 de Agosto de 1903, los cuales fueron<br />
ya.denunciados por el Gobierno de S. M., y que la notificaci6n que V. E. me transmite, del deseo<br />
del Gobierno noruego de darlos por caducados producirA sus efectos h contar del dia 3 del corriente,<br />
por lo cual dichos Convenios dejarAn de regir el 3 de Febrero de 1921.<br />
A mismo tiempo, tiene V. E. h bien manifestrarme que apreciando su Gobierno la gran importancia<br />
del mantenimiento de las antiguas y excelentes relaciones que existen entre los dos paises<br />
y esperando verlas cada dia mds afirmadas y desarrolladas en lo futuro, le ha encargado que haga<br />
presente, en esta ocasi6n, al Gobierno de S. M. su vivo deseo de poder entrar, cuando 6l mismo<br />
creyere liegado el momento oportuno, en negociaciones para la celebraci6n de un nuevo Tratado<br />
de Comercio.<br />
Al acusar a V. E. recibo de su citada Nota, tengo la honra de participarle que me doy por<br />
nl0tificado del deseo del Gobierno de Noruega de dar por caducados dichos Convenios, en la fecha<br />
anteriormente expresada, notificaci6n que pongo en conociemento del de S. M. a los efectos procedentes.
