Governor.<br />

In exercise of the powers vested in him by the<br />

Ottoman Land Code, the Ottoman Mines Regulations<br />

Law, the Mines Regnlations Amendment Law, 1882,<br />

and otherwise. His Excellency the Governor, with the<br />

advice of the Executive Council, is pleased to order<br />

and it is hereby ordered as follows :—<br />

Notwithstanding anything contained in Order in<br />

Council, No. 508, made the 6th June, 1911, and<br />

published in the <strong>Cyprus</strong> <strong>Gazette</strong> of the 9th June,<br />

1911, no Royalty shall be payable upon gypsum or<br />

gypsum stone exported from <strong>Cyprus</strong> for a period of<br />

two years with effect from the 19th February, 1936.<br />

Ordered in Council, this 24th day of March,<br />

MADE UNDER<br />

THE BURIALS LAW, 1896.<br />

Governor.<br />

Whereas the burial-ground situated in the village of<br />

Pomos, District of Paphos, now in use by the<br />

Christian community for the burial of the dead, is<br />

dangerous to the health of the said village :<br />

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers vested in<br />

him by section 1 of the Burials Law, 1896, His<br />

Excellency the Governor has been pleased to order and<br />

hereby orders that a new burial-ground, in substitution<br />

for the burial-ground now in use as aforesaid, shall be<br />

provided under the provisions of the said Law.<br />

Made at Nicosia, this 23rd day of March, 1936.<br />

No. 284. REGULATIONS<br />

MADE UNDER<br />

THE MOTOR CAR LAWS, 1921 AND 1932.<br />

Governor.<br />

In exercise of the powers vested in him by the<br />

Motor Car Laws, 1921 and 1932, His Excellency the<br />

Govemor, with the advice of the Executive<br />

Council, has been pleased to make and hereby<br />

makes the following Regidations :—<br />

1. <strong>The</strong>se Regulations may be cited as the<br />

Motor Car (Amendment) Regulations, 1936, and<br />

shall be read as one with the Motor Car Regulations,<br />

1930 to 1935,* (hereinafter called " the Principal<br />

Regulations "), and the Principal Regulations and<br />

these Regulations may together be cited as the<br />

Motor Car Regulations, 1930 to 1936.<br />

2. Regulation 2 of the Principal Regulations is<br />

hereby deleted.<br />

3. Item (iii) of paragraph (b) of Regulation 3<br />

of the Principal Regulations is hereby deleted.<br />

4. <strong>The</strong> following Regulation is hereby substituted<br />

for Regulation 4 of the Principal Regulations :—<br />

" 4.—(1) NO person shall drive or being the<br />

owner shall permit any other person to drive<br />

a motor car on a road unless such motor car is<br />

duly registered and licensed :<br />

Provided that a person shall not be liable<br />

for a breach of this regulation if he proves that<br />

he has taken reasonable steps to comply with<br />

its requirements.<br />

(2) <strong>The</strong> owner of a motor car may register<br />

the same with, and obtain a licence in respect<br />

thereof from, the Registrar.<br />

(3) Licences for motor cars shall be yearly<br />

and shall expire on the 31st December next<br />

following the date of issue.<br />

(4) A hcence issued under this regulation shall<br />

at all times be carried on the motor car when<br />

being driven or in use :<br />

Provided that the Registrar may direct that<br />

such hcence shall be carried on the motor car<br />

by afl&xing such Ucence and keeping it affixed<br />

on the motor car in such manner and in such<br />

place thereof as he may from time to time<br />

prescribe.<br />

(5) If a person satisfies the Registrar that a<br />

licence granted to him under this regulation has<br />

been lost or defaced, the Registrar shall, on<br />

payment of a fee of three shilhngs, issue to him<br />

a duplicate Hcence and the duphcate so issued<br />

shall have the same effect as the original hcence."<br />

5. <strong>The</strong> following heading and regulation are<br />

hereby substituted for regulation 12B and the<br />

heading thereof of the Principal Regulations :—<br />

" International Certificates and Permits.<br />

12B.—(1) It shall be lawful for the Registrar<br />

to issue to an owner of any motor car registered<br />

in <strong>Cyprus</strong> who is about to proceed abroad and<br />

who intends to take his motor car with bim—<br />

(a) an Intemational Certificate which shall<br />

be valid for one year from the date of issue<br />

in the form of the model contained in<br />

Annex B to the Intemational Convention<br />

relative to Motor Traffic of the 24th Aprils<br />

1926;<br />

(b) a Fiscal Permit which shall be valid for<br />

one year from the date of issue in the form<br />

of the model contained in the Annex to the<br />

Intemational Convention regarding the<br />

taxation of foreign motor vehiclcci of the<br />

30th March, 1931.<br />

(2) It shall be lawful for the Registrar to<br />

issue to the holder of a driving licence in force<br />

for the time being who is about to proceed<br />

abroad an International Driving Permit which<br />

shall be vahd for one year from the date of<br />

issue in the form of the model contained in<br />

Annex B to the Intemational Convention<br />

relative to Motor Traffic ofthe 24th April, 1926."<br />

6. <strong>The</strong> following regulation is hereby substituted<br />

for regulation 13 of the Principal Regulations :—<br />

" 13.—(1) Subject to the provisions of<br />

paragraph (5) of this regidation, no person shall<br />

drive a motor car unless he is the holder of a<br />

driving Ucence and no person shaU employ any<br />

person to drive a motor car unless the person<br />

so employed is the holder of a Ucence.<br />

(2) A driving Ucence may be issued in respect<br />

of all classes or types oi motor cars or in respect<br />

of a particular class or type of motor car and<br />

in the latter case such Ucence shall be endorsed<br />

accordingly and shaU be vahd for the class or<br />

type of motor car specified therein :<br />

Provided that the Ucence may be extended<br />

to any other class or type of motor car by<br />

endorsement of the same by the Registrar.<br />
