pleased to approve of the following Bye-laA\s<br />

made bv the Council of the Municipal Corporation<br />

of Larnaca. (M.P. 2089/08/2.)<br />

BYE-LAWS MADE BY THE COFNCIL OF THF.<br />

MT NICIP\L COBPORATION OF LAKNACA.<br />

In exercise of the powers vested in them by the<br />

Municipal Corporations Laws, 1930 and 1934,<br />

and otherwise, the Cotmcil of the Municipal<br />

Corporation of Lamaca hereby make the following<br />

Bye-laws :—<br />

1. <strong>The</strong>se Bye-laAvs may be cited as the Municipal<br />

Corporation (Lamaca) Amendment Bye-laws, 1936,<br />

and shall be read as one with the Municipal<br />

Corporation (Lamaca) Bye-laws, 1931 to (No. 2),<br />

1935 (hereinafter referred to as " the Principal<br />

Bye-laws ') and the Principal Bye-laws and these<br />

Bye-laws may together be cited as the Municipal<br />

(Corporation (Lamaca) Bye-laws, 1931 to 1936.<br />

2. <strong>The</strong> following definitions shall be inserted<br />

in bye-law 3 (a) of the Principal Bye-laws in their<br />

appropriate alphabetical place therein :—<br />

" ' ]\larket of Perishable Goods ' means the<br />

shops, sheds and stands described in bye-law<br />

28A (1) of these Bye-laws. and includes any<br />

other premises which may be provided by the<br />

Council in addition thereto or in substitution<br />

therefor under these bye-laws.<br />

' Perishable Goods' means game, fresh<br />

firuit, lemons, kolokassi, potatoes, onions,<br />

cucumber, fresh beans of all kinds, fi-esh peas<br />

and other firesh bulbs and any other green or<br />

fi-esh vegetables."<br />

3. Bye-law 18E (1) of the Principal Bye-laws<br />

is hereby amended by the substitution in Une 2<br />

of the word ' Municipality" for the words<br />

** owners thereof".<br />

4. <strong>The</strong> following bye-law shall be substituted<br />

for bye-law 18H (1) (a) ofthe Principal Bye-laws :—<br />

" 18H.—(1) <strong>The</strong> following fees shall be paid<br />

by the owner of, or the person slaughtering,<br />

any animal in the slaughter-houses, that is<br />

to say—<br />

(a) For every bull, calf, camel, cow or 8. cp.<br />

ox not exceeding thirty okes in<br />

weight .. .. .. .. ..50<br />

(b) For every bull, calf, camel, cow or<br />

ox exceeding thirty okes in weight .. 7 0<br />

(c) For every goat or sheep .. .. 2 2<br />

(d) For every kid slaughtered between<br />

the 1st of November and the 31st<br />

July .. .. .. ..12<br />

(c) For every kid slaughtered between<br />

the 1st of August and the 31st<br />

October 2 2<br />

(/) For every lamb slaughtered between<br />

the 1st of November and the 15th<br />

of April .. .. ..12<br />

(g) For every lamb slaughtered between<br />

the 16th of April and the 3lst of<br />

October 2 2<br />

(A) For every swine not exceeding<br />

twentv okes in weight .. .. 5 0<br />

(i) For every swine exceeding twenty<br />

okes in weight but not exceeding<br />

thirty okes in weight.. ..60<br />

(j) For every swine exceeding thirty<br />

okes in weight .. ..80"<br />

6. <strong>The</strong> following bye-laws shall be substituted<br />

for bye-laws 20 to 28 both inclusive in Part IV,<br />

Chapter 1 of the Principal Bye-laws :—<br />

" 20. <strong>The</strong> following premises and shops, that<br />

is to say, the premises situated at Scala, Block<br />

10, Plots Nos. 90 and 48 on 47, 48, 49 and 50,<br />

bounded by Daniel G. Antoniades, Polyxeni<br />

Evangelou Georgiadou, Evangeli Haji Georghinu<br />

Heirs of Petri Nicolaou, Chrystalleni K!<br />

Vovidou, Katina Thoma, Nicola A. Bo\iatzi<br />

Road of Lamaca, Maria N. Demetriou, Maritza<br />

I. Sa\-vidou, Road, Dorothea I. Savvidou<br />

Prokopis Apostolou, Heirs of Vayianos, Katina<br />

Georghiou Haji Panteli, Katingo and Haritini<br />

Athanasiou, Maria Athanasiou, and Road, are<br />

hereby provided as a municipal market.<br />

21. <strong>The</strong> management and control of the<br />

municipal market are hereby vested in the<br />

person appointed from time to time by the<br />

Council to be the inspector of the municipal<br />

market (hereinafter in this chapter of these<br />

bye-laws referred to as the ' inspector').<br />

22. <strong>The</strong> municipal market shall be opened<br />

and shall be kept open daily :—<br />

(a) during the period from the 1st of March<br />

to the 31st of September in each year, from<br />

4 a.m. to 8 p.m. ;<br />

(6) during the period from 1st October to<br />

the last day of February in each year,<br />

from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.<br />

Provided that the said market may, with the<br />

permission of the mayor, be opened and kept<br />

open at such times and for such other period<br />

as may be required.<br />

23.—(1) All goods, marketable conmiodities,<br />

hve-stock and other articles or things brought<br />

to the municipal market for sale or to be exposed<br />

for sale therein shall be carried into the<br />

mumcipal market only through the back entrance<br />

in the west opening on the Omonoia Square.<br />

(2) No person shall bring or cause to be<br />

brought into the municipal market any skin,<br />

whether fresh or dry, of any animal.<br />

(3) No person shall, whilst in the municiMi<br />

market for shopping or for any other purpoK^<br />

have with him any dog or any animal or any<br />

vehicle or bicycle.<br />

24. <strong>The</strong> place or places at which and the<br />

maimer in which goods, marketable conunodities,<br />

hve-stock and other articles or things shall be<br />

sold or exposed for sale in the municipal market<br />

shall be appointed and regulated from time<br />

to time by the inspector.<br />

25. All goods, marketable commodities, hvestock<br />

and other articles or things exposed for<br />

sale in the municipal market shall be open at<br />

all times to inspection by the mayor, the<br />

sanitary authority and the inspector.<br />

26. All goods, marketable commodities, livestock<br />

and other articles or things exposed for<br />

sale in the municipal market, which in the<br />

opimon of the samtary authority are unfit for<br />

hmnan consumption, may be seized and detained<br />

by the inspector and may be destroyed by the<br />

written order of the mayor.<br />

27.—(1) <strong>The</strong> following tolls shaU be paid<br />

by the owner or the person in charge of the<br />

following goods, marketable commodities, livestock<br />

and other articles or things brought in or<br />

exposed for sale in the municipal market, that<br />

is to say :—<br />

(a) Oil: cp.<br />

(i) For every tin or kouza .. • • U<br />

(ii) For every barrel 3<br />

(b) lime or gypsum :<br />

For every 100 okes or part thereof .. ^\<br />

(c) Charcoal:<br />

For every 50 okes or part thereof .. OJ<br />
