made bv the Council of the Municipal Corporation

BYE-LAWS MADE BY THE COFNCIL OF THF.
MT NICIP\L COBPORATION OF LAKNACA.
In exercise of the powers vested in them by the
Municipal Corporations Laws, 1930 and 1934,
and otherwise, the Cotmcil of the Municipal
Corporation of Lamaca hereby make the following
Bye-laws :—
1. These Bye-laAvs may be cited as the Municipal
Corporation (Lamaca) Amendment Bye-laws, 1936,
and shall be read as one with the Municipal
Corporation (Lamaca) Bye-laws, 1931 to (No. 2),
1935 (hereinafter referred to as " the Principal
Bye-laws ') and the Principal Bye-laws and these
Bye-laws may together be cited as the Municipal
(Corporation (Lamaca) Bye-laws, 1931 to 1936.
2. The following definitions shall be inserted
in bye-law 3 (a) of the Principal Bye-laws in their
appropriate alphabetical place therein :—
" ' ]\larket of Perishable Goods ' means the
shops, sheds and stands described in bye-law
28A (1) of these Bye-laws. and includes any
other premises which may be provided by the
Council in addition thereto or in substitution
therefor under these bye-laws.
' Perishable Goods' means game, fresh
firuit, lemons, kolokassi, potatoes, onions,
cucumber, fresh beans of all kinds, fi-esh peas
and other firesh bulbs and any other green or
fi-esh vegetables."
3. Bye-law 18E (1) of the Principal Bye-laws
is hereby amended by the substitution in Une 2
of the word ' Municipality" for the words
** owners thereof".
4. The following bye-law shall be substituted
for bye-law 18H (1) (a) ofthe Principal Bye-laws :—
" 18H.—(1) The following fees shall be paid
by the owner of, or the person slaughtering,
any animal in the slaughter-houses, that is
to say—
(a) For every bull, calf, camel, cow or 8. cp.
ox not exceeding thirty okes in
weight .. .. .. .. ..50
(b) For every bull, calf, camel, cow or
ox exceeding thirty okes in weight .. 7 0
(c) For every goat or sheep .. .. 2 2
(d) For every kid slaughtered between
the 1st of November and the 31st

(c) For every kid slaughtered between
the 1st of August and the 31st

(/) For every lamb slaughtered between
the 1st of November and the 15th

(g) For every lamb slaughtered between
the 16th of April and the 3lst of

(A) For every swine not exceeding
twentv okes in weight .. .. 5 0
(i) For every swine exceeding twenty
okes in weight but not exceeding

(j) For every swine exceeding thirty

6. The following bye-laws shall be substituted
for bye-laws 20 to 28 both inclusive in Part IV,
Chapter 1 of the Principal Bye-laws :—
" 20. The following premises and shops, that
is to say, the premises situated at Scala, Block
10, Plots Nos. 90 and 48 on 47, 48, 49 and 50,
bounded by Daniel G. Antoniades, Polyxeni
Evangelou Georgiadou, Evangeli Haji Georghinu
Heirs of Petri Nicolaou, Chrystalleni K!
Vovidou, Katina Thoma, Nicola A. Bo\iatzi
Road of Lamaca, Maria N. Demetriou, Maritza
I. Sa\-vidou, Road, Dorothea I. Savvidou
Prokopis Apostolou, Heirs of Vayianos, Katina
Georghiou Haji Panteli, Katingo and Haritini
Athanasiou, Maria Athanasiou, and Road, are
hereby provided as a municipal market.
21. The management and control of the
municipal market are hereby vested in the
person appointed from time to time by the
Council to be the inspector of the municipal
market (hereinafter in this chapter of these
bye-laws referred to as the ' inspector').
22. The municipal market shall be opened
and shall be kept open daily :—
(a) during the period from the 1st of March
to the 31st of September in each year, from
4 a.m. to 8 p.m. ;
(6) during the period from 1st October to
the last day of February in each year,
from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Provided that the said market may, with the
permission of the mayor, be opened and kept
open at such times and for such other period
as may be required.
23.—(1) All goods, marketable conmiodities,
hve-stock and other articles or things brought
to the municipal market for sale or to be exposed
for sale therein shall be carried into the
mumcipal market only through the back entrance
in the west opening on the Omonoia Square.
(2) No person shall bring or cause to be
brought into the municipal market any skin,
whether fresh or dry, of any animal.
(3) No person shall, whilst in the municiMi
market for shopping or for any other purpoK^
have with him any dog or any animal or any
vehicle or bicycle.
24. The place or places at which and the
maimer in which goods, marketable conunodities,
hve-stock and other articles or things shall be
sold or exposed for sale in the municipal market
shall be appointed and regulated from time
to time by the inspector.
25. All goods, marketable commodities, hvestock
and other articles or things exposed for
sale in the municipal market shall be open at
all times to inspection by the mayor, the
sanitary authority and the inspector.
26. All goods, marketable commodities, livestock
and other articles or things exposed for
sale in the municipal market, which in the
opimon of the samtary authority are unfit for
hmnan consumption, may be seized and detained
by the inspector and may be destroyed by the
written order of the mayor.
27.—(1) The following tolls shaU be paid
by the owner or the person in charge of the
following goods, marketable commodities, livestock
and other articles or things brought in or
exposed for sale in the municipal market, that
is to say :—
(a) Oil: cp.
(i) For every tin or kouza .. • • U
(ii) For every barrel 3
(b) lime or gypsum :
For every 100 okes or part thereof .. ^\
(c) Charcoal:
For every 50 okes or part thereof .. OJ
