A LAW TO PROVIDE FOR THE IMPOSITION OF ADDITIONAL<br />

IMPORT DUTIES ON CERTAIN GOODS.<br />

Governor.<br />

BE it enacted by His Excellency the Governor and<br />

Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of <strong>Cyprus</strong> as<br />

follows:—<br />

1. This Law may be cited as the Customs (Additional Short title.<br />

Import Duties) Law, 1936, and shall be read as one with<br />

the Customs Law, 1936. 3i of 1930.<br />

2. Notwithstanding anything contained in the Customs Additional<br />

Law IQ^fi import<br />

(1) there shall be levied and collected upon any of the i^p^ect"of<br />

articles mentioned in the Schedule hereto, not being '^^^^^<br />

goods charged at the preferential rate set forth in the.^°°<br />

fourth column of the First Schedule to the Customs<br />

Law, 1936, but which fall within any description of goods<br />

mentioned in the second column of that Schedule and<br />

which shall be imported into the Colony or taken out of<br />

bond for home consumption, an additional import duty<br />

equal to double the import duty set forth in the general<br />

tariff rate of duty opposite to such description of goods<br />

in the fifth column of the said First Schedule to the<br />

Customs Law, 1936;<br />

(2) there shall be levied and collected upon any of<br />

the articles mentioned in the Schedule hereto, not being<br />

goods of British Empire origin, manufacture or production,<br />

but which fall within any description of goods<br />

mentioned in the Table of Exemptions contained in the<br />

Second Schedule to the Customs Law, 1936, and which<br />

shall be imported into the Colony or taken out of bond<br />

for home consumption, an import duty equal to double<br />

the import duty set forth in the general tariff rate of<br />

duty opposite to item No. 115 or No. 116, as the case<br />

may be, in the fifth column of the First Schedule to the<br />

Customs Law, 1936.<br />
