Provided that no officer so appointed shaU be removed
from his office except with the consent of the Commissioner.
(2) Every officer appointed by the ViUage Health Commission
shaU perform such duties and in such manner as
the ViUage Health Commission may from time to time direct.
16.—(1) The Chairman of a ViUage Health Commission
or any person authorized by him or a Medical Officer or
Sanitary Inspector authorized by the Director of Medical
Services may without warrant enter any premises at any
time between the hours of sunrise and sunset or in the
case of any business premises at any hour when the
business is usuaUy carried on, for the purpose of examining
whether any person therein or thereon acts in contravention
of this Law or any Rules made thereunder.
(2) Any person who prevents or obstructs any person
enumerated in sub-section (1) in the execution of any of
the provisions of that sub-section, shall be guilty of an
offence.
Penalty : a fine of ten pounds.
17. The ViUage Health Commission shall, in carrying
out any measures relating to sanitation or pubUc health
in the viUage, comply with any directions given by the
Director of Medical Services in that respect.
18. This Law shaU come into operation on a date to be
fixed by the Governor by notice in the Gazette and thereupon
the PubUc Health (ViUages) Law, 1892, shaU be repealed:
Provided that any moneys in any ViUage Fund existing
under the provisions of the Law hereby repealed shaU be
transferred to and shaU form part of the ViUage Health
Fund estabUshed under the provisions of this Law for the
village concemed.
SCHEDULE.
(SECTION 2.)
Objects and Reasons.
The PubUc Health (ViUages) Law, 1892, has been found to
be deficient in certain respects and the object of this BiU
is to make more adequate provision for the better promotion
of pu})Uc health in viUages.
2. The BUl is not of general appUcation. It wiU apply
only to those viUages the names of which wiU appear in
the Schedule, the intention being to enumerate therein the
largest viUages in each District and those vUlages to which
the PubUc Health (ViUages) Law, 1892, has been made
applicable. Power, however, is given to the Governor to
apply, by order to be pubUshed in the Cyprus Gazette, the
provisions of the BiU to any other viUage, not being a
Summer Resort or a municipal corporation.
3. A Village Health Commission, composed of the
Mukhtar and Azas of tlie village, is estabUshed in every
yUlage to which the; Bill appUes and provision is made
for the establishment of one VUlage Health Commission in
villages where there is more than one VUlage Commission.
