Provided that no officer so appointed shaU be removed<br />

from his office except with the consent of the Commissioner.<br />

(2) Every officer appointed by the ViUage Health Commission<br />

shaU perform such duties and in such manner as<br />

the ViUage Health Commission may from time to time direct.<br />

16.—(1) <strong>The</strong> Chairman of a ViUage Health Commission<br />

or any person authorized by him or a Medical Officer or<br />

Sanitary Inspector authorized by the Director of Medical<br />

Services may without warrant enter any premises at any<br />

time between the hours of sunrise and sunset or in the<br />

case of any business premises at any hour when the<br />

business is usuaUy carried on, for the purpose of examining<br />

whether any person therein or thereon acts in contravention<br />

of this Law or any Rules made thereunder.<br />

(2) Any person who prevents or obstructs any person<br />

enumerated in sub-section (1) in the execution of any of<br />

the provisions of that sub-section, shall be guilty of an<br />

offence.<br />

Penalty : a fine of ten pounds.<br />

17. <strong>The</strong> ViUage Health Commission shall, in carrying<br />

out any measures relating to sanitation or pubUc health<br />

in the viUage, comply with any directions given by the<br />

Director of Medical Services in that respect.<br />

18. This Law shaU come into operation on a date to be<br />

fixed by the Governor by notice in the <strong>Gazette</strong> and thereupon<br />

the PubUc Health (ViUages) Law, 1892, shaU be repealed:<br />

Provided that any moneys in any ViUage Fund existing<br />

under the provisions of the Law hereby repealed shaU be<br />

transferred to and shaU form part of the ViUage Health<br />

Fund estabUshed under the provisions of this Law for the<br />

village concemed.<br />

SCHEDULE.<br />

(SECTION 2.)<br />

Objects and Reasons.<br />

<strong>The</strong> PubUc Health (ViUages) Law, 1892, has been found to<br />

be deficient in certain respects and the object of this BiU<br />

is to make more adequate provision for the better promotion<br />

of pu})Uc health in viUages.<br />

2. <strong>The</strong> BUl is not of general appUcation. It wiU apply<br />

only to those viUages the names of which wiU appear in<br />

the Schedule, the intention being to enumerate therein the<br />

largest viUages in each District and those vUlages to which<br />

the PubUc Health (ViUages) Law, 1892, has been made<br />

applicable. Power, however, is given to the Governor to<br />

apply, by order to be pubUshed in the <strong>Cyprus</strong> <strong>Gazette</strong>, the<br />

provisions of the BiU to any other viUage, not being a<br />

Summer Resort or a municipal corporation.<br />

3. A Village Health Commission, composed of the<br />

Mukhtar and Azas of tlie village, is estabUshed in every<br />

yUlage to which the; Bill appUes and provision is made<br />

for the establishment of one VUlage Health Commission in<br />

villages where there is more than one VUlage Commission.<br />
