No. 1189. The PubUc Rivers Protection
Law, 1930.
NOTIFICATION.
1. Wliereas the portion of the public river Pedias,
in the District of Nicosia, beginning at the ford
adjoining the Nicosia Tannery (plot No. 250, plan
No. XXI/38), where the river is crossed by the road
lying to the south of the Nicosia Golf Course, northwards
for a distance of 1,860 feet approximately and
ending at a line which is a straight line continuation
of the northern boundary of plot No. 285 of the same
plan to the right bank of the said river, as shown
coloured red on the plan dated 5th October, 1936, filed
in M.P. No. 244/28 in the office of the Commissioner
of Nicosia, has been declared by the Pedias River
(Protection) Order, 1936, to be a river for the purposes
of the Public Rivers Protection Law, 1930, it is hereby
notified that the removal of shingle from the bed,
bank or wall of the portion of the river aforesaid is
hereby prohibited.
2. The attention of the public is drawn to the
provisions of the Public Rivers Protection Law, 1930,
under which any person acting in contravention of
a notification issued thereunder, is liable to imprisonment
not exceeding one month or to a fine not exceeding
five pounds.
