Whereas His Majesty by virtue of the authority<br />

conferred upon Him by the Copyright Act, 1911, (a)<br />

(hereinafter called " the Act ") was pleased to<br />

make the Copyright (Rome Convention) Order,<br />

1933, (b) (hereinafter called " the Principal<br />

Order ") :<br />

And w hereas the City of the Vatican has acceded<br />

to the International Convention for the Protection<br />

of Literary and Artistic Works signed at Rome<br />

on the 2nd day of June, 1928 (c):<br />

And whereas by Section 32 of the Act it is<br />

provided that His Majesty in Council may make<br />

Orders for altering, revoking or varying any Order<br />

in Council made under the Act, but that any<br />

Order made under the said Section should not<br />

affect prejudicially any rights or interests acquired<br />

or accrued at the date when the Order comes<br />

into operation, and should provide for the protection<br />

of such rights and interests :<br />

Now, therefore, His Maj^Jy^ by and with the<br />

acmce of His Privy Council, and by virtue of the<br />

authority conferred upon Him by the Act, and<br />

of all other powers enabling Him in that behalf,<br />

is pleased to direct and doth hereby direct as<br />

follows :—<br />

1. <strong>The</strong> Principal Order shall have effect as if:—<br />

(a) in Article 1 the City of the \'atican were<br />

included amongst the foreign countries<br />

of the Copjrright Union named therein;<br />

(a) 1 & 2 Geo. a. c. 46.<br />

ih) S.R. & O. 1933 (No. 253) p. 530.<br />

(C) Treaty Sories No. 12 (1932).<br />

(b) at the end of the Third Schedule there<br />

were inserted the foUowdng words and<br />

figures :—<br />

City of the Vatican. 3rd October, 1935. 12th<br />

September, 1935.<br />

(c) in Article 3 the words and figures " 3rd<br />

October, 1935 " were substituted for the<br />

words " date of this Order" in the<br />

relation of that Article to any work to<br />

which the Act is appKed by virtue of<br />

this Order.<br />

2. Nothing in this Order shall affect prejudicially<br />

any rights or interests acquired or accrued at<br />

the date of this Order by virtue of the Principal<br />

Order.<br />

3. <strong>The</strong> Interpretation Act, 1889,(d) shall apply<br />

to the interpretation of this Order as if it were<br />

an Act of Parliament.<br />

4. This Order may be cited as the Copyright<br />

(Rome Convention) (Vatican City) Order, 1935.<br />

Whereas it is expedient to alter the boundaries<br />

of the villages of Yialia and Ayia Marina in the<br />

District of Paphos :<br />

Now, therefore, I, Herbert Richmond Palmer,<br />

Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished<br />

Order of Saint Michael and Saint George,<br />

Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the<br />

British Empire, Governor and Commander-in-Chief<br />

in and over the Colony of <strong>Cyprus</strong>, by virtue of<br />

the powers and authority vested in me by the<br />

Land Code and the Village Authorities Laws,.<br />
