THE BURIALS LAW, 1896.<br />

Governor.<br />

Whereas in pursuance of Notification No. 997,<br />

published m the <strong>Cyprus</strong> <strong>Gazette</strong> of the 21st September,<br />

1934, a fit and proper site has been registered in the<br />

books of the Land Registry Office as a burial-ground<br />

for the burial of the dead by the Christian Community<br />

of the village of Ayii Vavatsinias, in the District of<br />

Larnaca :<br />

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers vested in<br />

him by section 14 of the Burials Law, 1S96, His<br />

Excellency the Governor has been pleased to order<br />

and hereby orders that, from and after the 15th day of<br />

March, 1936, no burial shall take place in the<br />

burial-ground in lieu whereof the new burial-ground<br />

above referred to has been provided.<br />

THE TREE PLANTING VILLAGE AREAS<br />

LAWS, 1930 TO 1936.<br />

Governor.<br />

Whereas at a meeting duly convened and held<br />

at the village of Pakhna, in the District of Limassol,<br />

on the 6th day of October, 1935, it was determined<br />

by the voters present thereat that a certain area<br />

should be reserved as the Tree Planting Area of<br />

the village of Pakhna :<br />

And whereas at the said meeting the boundaries<br />

of the said area have been fixed and described :<br />

And whereas the Mukhtars of the village of<br />

Pakhna have forwarded to the Commissioner of<br />

the District of Limassol a report, signed and<br />

sealed by them, containing a description with<br />

boundaries of the said area and stating that the<br />

said area fulfils the conditions in section 10 (4)<br />

of the Tree Planting Village Areas Laws, 1930<br />

and 1935, prescribed:<br />

And whereas the said Commissioner has transmitted<br />

the said report, together with his recommendations,<br />

to the Colonial Secretary for the<br />

consideration of the Govemor :<br />

And whereas the Govemor considers it expedient,<br />

having regard to all the circumstances, that the<br />

area in the said report described should be reserved<br />

as the Tree Planting Area of the village of Pakhna.<br />

Now, therefore. His Excellency the Govemor,<br />

in exercise of the powers vested in him by the<br />

Tree Planting Village Areas Laws, 1930 to 1936,<br />

is pleased to order and it is hereby ordered as<br />

follows :—<br />

<strong>The</strong> area described in the Schedule bereto<br />

is hereby declared to be and shall be reserved<br />

as the Tree Planting Area of the village of<br />

Pakhna in the District of Limas>;oI.<br />

No. XLVII/57, locality " Soumniakia." on the<br />

road from the village of Vouni to the village<br />

of Pakhna ; thence north-eastwards along thi.*^<br />

road to the boundary of the village of Pakhna<br />

at the most northem point of plot No. 560 of<br />

the same plan, locality " Megha Vouni";<br />

thence southwards and eastwards along this<br />

village boundary to the stream at the southeastem<br />

comer of plot No. 198, plan No. LIII/9,<br />

locality " Konnos " ; thence westwards and<br />

northwards along this stream to the most<br />

westem point of plot No. 487, plan No. LIII/1,<br />

locality " Mouraties " ; thence northwards along<br />

the westem boundaries of plots Nos. 487 and 48.")<br />

of the same plan, to the footpath at the most<br />

northem point of plot No. 485 of the same plan ;<br />

thence westwards along this footpath to the<br />

most southem point of plot No. 270 of the same<br />

plan; thence north-westwards passing along<br />

the boundaries of, and including in the reserved<br />

area, plots Nos. 270, 269, 279, 281, 287, 283,<br />

318, 112, 54, 55, 109, 63, 60, 59 of the same<br />

plan, plots Nos. 228, 229, 221, 242, 267, 272,<br />

273, 389, 372, 374, 367, 375, 365, 300, 315,<br />

plan No. LII/8, locality " Plistres," 364,<br />

378, 385, 384, 383, 382, 381, 356, 357, 350,<br />

<strong>The</strong> area reserved comprises" 4,538 donunis<br />

approximately, as shown edged in red on the plan<br />

filed in the D.L.R.S. M.P. 451/35.<br />

NOTIFICATION.<br />

Governor.<br />

Whereas it has been represented to me that<br />

it is desirable in the interest of the public to provide<br />

buildings and playing fields for the use of the<br />

English School, Nicosia :<br />

Now, therefore, I, Herbert Richmond Palmer,<br />

Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished<br />

Order of Saint Michael and Saint George,<br />

Commander of the Most Excellent Order of th(^<br />

British Empire, Govemor and Commander-in-Chief<br />

in and over the Colony of Cypru-s, by virtue of<br />

the powers vested in me by the Land Acquisition<br />

Laws, 1899 and 1928, do hereby declare the<br />

provision of buildings and playing fields as aforesaid<br />

to be an undertaking of pubhc utility and do hereb>^<br />

authorize the carrying out of the said undertaking<br />

and do hereby entrust to the Director of Education<br />

the supervision and effectuation of the Kaid<br />

undertaking.<br />
