HOTELS BOARD.<br />

With reference to Notification No. 1199, published<br />

in the <strong>Cyprus</strong> Gazefte No. 2469 of the Uth October,<br />

1935, it is hereby notified that in exercise of the<br />

powers vested in him by the Hotels Law, 1935, His<br />

Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint<br />

M. Aziz Eff., M.B.E., Chief Sanitary Inspector, to be<br />

a member of the Hotels Board, with effect from the<br />

19th June, 1936. (M.P. 673/30/3.)<br />

No. 619. <strong>The</strong> Antiquities Law, 1935.<br />

DISTRICT MUSEUMS.<br />

In'exercise of the powers vested in him by the<br />

Antiquities Law, 1935, His Excellency the Governor<br />

has been pleased to establish the premises situated<br />

within the precincts of Ayios Lazaros Church at<br />

Larnaca, formerly known as the Local Museum at<br />

Lamaca, to be a District Museum of Larnaca under<br />

the provisions of the said Law. (M.P. 875/36.)<br />

It is hereby notified that from the 1st January,<br />

1937, and until further notice, the following books<br />

will be required for the English Examinations :—<br />

Ordinary.<br />

(b) For general reading.<br />

NOTES—<br />

(a) In the book set for intensive study candidates<br />

will be expected to show a knowledge<br />

not only of the subject matter but also of<br />

the vocabulary and idiom used. A piece of<br />

dictation based on this book will be set.<br />

(b) From the book set for general reading<br />

questions will be set to ascertain whether the<br />

pupil has read and understood the book<br />

(e.g. questions on subject matter and context<br />

questions).<br />

Grammar: As for 1936. <strong>The</strong> paraphrase set will<br />

be of simple verse.<br />

exercises in the Reading book.<br />

Honours.<br />

NO books are set for this examination. For the<br />

paper on English Idioms candidates are advised to<br />

study the following :—<br />
