IMPORT DUTIES AND COMPUTATION AND<br />

PAYMENT THEREOF.<br />

33. <strong>The</strong>re shall be levied and collected upon all goods import<br />

which are specified in the First Schedule, and which shall c^t?ii to<br />

be imported into the Colony or taken out of bond for home ^e levied,<br />

consumption, the several import duties of Customs<br />

(hereinafter called " import duties"), appearing in the<br />

said Schedule and set opposite to each item respectively<br />

therein.<br />

34.—(1) <strong>The</strong> goods spepified in the Second Schedule, Exemptiona.<br />

when imported into the Colony, shall, subject to any<br />

conditions set forth therein, be exempt from the payment<br />

of import duties.<br />

(2) Fuel carried on board an aircraft entering the Colony<br />

and possessing the nationaUty of any of the States in which<br />

the Convention relating to the regulation of aerial navigation<br />

made at Paris on the 13th day of October, 1919, is for the<br />

time being in force shall be exempt from the payment of<br />

import duties ;<br />

Provided that the quantity of such fuel does not exceed<br />

that needed for the journey of such aircraft as defined in<br />

the log-book thereof.<br />

35.—(1) <strong>The</strong> Governor in Council may make regulations Power to<br />

to be pubUshed in the <strong>Gazette</strong> for the total or partial duSlr^°"*<br />

exemption from the payment of import duties for a limited dues aircraft,,<br />

period upon any aircraft, motor vehicle or shot-gun brought ^h^cLs and<br />

into the Colony by persons making a temporary stay therein, shot-guns<br />

(2) <strong>The</strong> Governor may by Order to be published in cases.<br />

the <strong>Gazette</strong> declare that the aircraft of any air transport<br />

company operating air services in, to or through the Colony<br />

and any engines, spare parts and equipment carried and<br />

exclusively used on such aircraft, and any fuel and oil so<br />

carried and used, and any fuel and oil taken on board<br />

such aircraft for the purpose of flying to parts beyond the<br />

seas shall be exempt from the payment of import duties<br />

and other duties or dues.<br />

36.—(1) With a view to conferring a preference in the imperial<br />

case of British Empire products, import duties shall be P""®^®""^**'<br />

charged at the preferential rate set forth in the First<br />

Schedule, where the goods are shown to the satisfaction of<br />

the Collector to have been consigned from and grown,<br />

produced or manufactured in the British Empire.<br />

(2) Where the Governor in Council is satisfied that any<br />

class of goods to which the preferential rate appUes are to a<br />

considerable extent manufactured in the British Empire<br />

from material which is not wholly grown or produced in<br />

the British Empire, the Governor may by Order in CouncU<br />

direct that the preferential rate shall be charged only in<br />

respect of such proportion of those goods as corresponds<br />

to the proportion of dutiable material used in their<br />

manufacture which is shown to have been grown or produced<br />

in the British Empire.<br />

37. All import duties shall be paid at the rate in force Time for<br />

on the day the declaration mentioned in section 26 for the rate'cr^^<br />

clearance of the goods has been deUvered b}^ the importer import<br />

to the CoUector. ^ *^*<br />

38. Where import duties are imposed according to a Proportional<br />

ΚΥΠΡΙΑΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ<br />

specified quantity, weight, size or value, the import duties '^"^'®^'<br />

shaU apply in proportion to any greater or lesser quantity,<br />

weight, size or value.<br />
