REGULATIONS<br />

^ MADE UNDER<br />

THE IMPORTATION OF TEXTILES (QUOTAS) LAW, 1934.<br />

Governor.<br />

In exercise of the poAvers vested in him by the<br />

Importation of Textiles (Quotas) Law, 1934, His<br />

Excellency the Governor has been pleased to make<br />

and hereby makes the foUowing Regulations :—<br />

1. <strong>The</strong>se Regulations may be cited as the<br />

Importation of Textiles (Quotas i Regulations, 1936.<br />

2. In these Regulations—<br />

" regulated textiles " means any textile goods,<br />

and anv class or classes of textile goods manufactured<br />

in a foreign country, in respect of w hich<br />

any quota has been fixed by proclamation made by<br />

the Govemor under section 3 of the Law and ui<br />

force for the time being.<br />

3. <strong>The</strong> return required to be submitted to the<br />

Comptroller under section 4 of the Law by any<br />

person who imports any regulated textiles shall<br />

be in the Form set out in the First Schedule hereto<br />

or in such other form as the ComptroUer may by<br />

notification in the <strong>Gazette</strong> prescribe.<br />

4. <strong>The</strong> declaration of origin required to be<br />

submitted to the ComptroUer under section 4 of<br />

the Law by any person who imports any regulated<br />

textUes shall be in the Form set out in the Second<br />

Schedule hereto or in such other form as the<br />

Comptroller may by notification in the <strong>Gazette</strong><br />

prescribe :<br />

Ax)vided that declarations of origin in respect<br />

of goods subject to quota and manufactured in<br />

Italy should be certified as true either by the<br />

Customs Authorities in Italy or by a Chamber of<br />

Commerce in Italy.<br />

5. A fee of one shilling shaU be paid to the<br />

Comptroller in respect of every statement fumished<br />

by the Comptroller to any person requiring the<br />

same under section 5 (2) of the Law.<br />

6. No regulated textiles shaU be entered for<br />

payment of duty or to be warehoused except at the<br />

port of Famagusta.<br />

7.—(1) <strong>The</strong> ComptroUer may require that a<br />

certificate of origin for British Empire textUe<br />

goods of kinds subject to quota should be submitted<br />

to him at the time of importation and may, if<br />

he thinks fit, require that such ceri^ificate of origin<br />

should bear on it an endorsement ofa Chamber of<br />

Commerce or other responsible body :<br />

Provided that, where a consignment of British<br />

Empire textUe goods of kinds subject to quota is<br />

of a value not exceeding five pounds, no such<br />

endorsement on the certificate of origin in respect<br />

thereof shall be required.<br />

(2) <strong>The</strong> certificate of origin shaU be in the<br />

Form A and the endorsement of a Chamber of<br />

Commerce in the Form B and the endorsement of<br />

the Federation of British Industries (Incorporated<br />

by Royal Charter) in the Form C as set out in the<br />

Third Schedule hereto.<br />

(3) In the case of United Kingdom textUe goods<br />

of kinds subject to quota, the endorsement on a<br />

certificate of origin may be given only by one of the<br />

following Chambers of Commerce or by the Federation<br />

of British Industries (Incorporated by Royal<br />

Charter) :—<br />
