THE TROODOS PUBLIC HEALTH LAWS, 1920 AND 1930,<br />

His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to<br />

approve of the following Regulations made by the<br />

iS*o6dos Public Health Board.<br />

REGULATIONS MADE BY THE TBOODOS PUBLIC<br />

HEALTH BOARD,<br />

In exercise of the powers vested in them by the<br />

Troodos PubUc Health Laws, 1920 and 1930, the<br />

Troodos PubUc Health Board hereby make the<br />

following Regulations :—<br />

1. <strong>The</strong>se Regulations may be cited as the Troodos<br />

Public Health (Amendment) Regulations, 1936,<br />

and shaU be read as one with the Troodos PubUc<br />

Health Regulations 1931 to 1935,* (hereinafter<br />

caUed " the Principal Regidations"), and the<br />

Principal Regulations and these Regulations may<br />

together be cited as the Troodos PubUc Health<br />

Regulations, 1931 to 1936.<br />

2. <strong>The</strong> following regulation shall be substituted<br />

for regulation 26 ofthe Principal Regulations :—<br />

" 26.—(1) AU buUdings, hotels, camps, tents,<br />

coffee-shops, confectionery or pastry-shops,<br />

grocery-shops, cook-houses, eating-houses, bars,<br />

bakeries, khans, mandras, pig-styes, poultrypens<br />

or stables within the sanitary area, and aU<br />

articles, things or materials used therein shaU be<br />

kept by the owner, occupier or lessee thereof in a<br />

clean and sanitary condition to the satisfaction<br />

of the Medical Officer.<br />

(2) <strong>The</strong> Medical Officer if satisfied that any<br />

ofthe premises in paragraph (1) hereof mentioned<br />

is not kept in a clean and sanitary condition<br />

may serve a written notice on the owner,<br />

occupier or lessee of such premises in the form<br />

prescribed in the First Schedule hereto specifying<br />

the work that is to be carried out in order to<br />

bring such premises to a clean and sanitary<br />

condition and specifying the period (not being less<br />

than twenty-four hours) within which the work<br />

to be completed.<br />

(3) <strong>The</strong> Medical Officer if satisfied that aU or<br />

any of his instructions as specified in the notice<br />

have not been carried out may order the closing<br />

of the premises and such premises shall thereupon<br />

remain closed untU the instructions specified in<br />

the notice are carried out to his satisfaction. "<br />

3. Regulation 39 of the Principal Regulations<br />

M hereby amended as foUows :—<br />

(a) By the deletion of paragraph (1) (a) and<br />

the substitution therefor of the following<br />

paragraph :—<br />

" (a) Barbers, per annum or part thereof<br />

from IOs. to £3."<br />

(6) By the insertion in paragraph (1) (6)<br />

immediately after the words " medical<br />

practitioners " ofthe words " other than the<br />

Medical Officer and the Medical Officer in<br />

charge of the troops '*.<br />

(c) By the deletion in paragraph (1) (j) of the<br />

figure " 10«." and the substitution therefor<br />

of the figure " 5s.".<br />

(d) By the deletion of paragraph (3) and the<br />

substitution therefor of the foUowing<br />

paragraph :—<br />

" (3) Every hotel-keeper shaU pay in<br />

addition to the fee in paragraph (1) (e)<br />

of this regulation prescribed, a fee of not less<br />

than Sep. or more than 4|cp., as the Board<br />

may direct, in respect of every visitor of over<br />

ten years of age sta3ang at his hotel."<br />

4. <strong>The</strong> foUowing regulation shaU be substituted<br />

for regulation 44 of the Principal Regulations :—<br />

" 44.—(1) No person shaU, within the sanitary<br />

area, be employed in any hotel, camp,<br />

restaurant, bar, coffee-shop, slaughter-house,<br />

bakery or in any place in which food or<br />

drink is prepared or served or is sold or<br />

exposed for sale unless such person obtains<br />

from the Medical Officer or any other<br />

Government Medical Officer a Health<br />

Certificate vaUd until the thirty-first<br />

December next following the date of issue<br />

in the form prescribed in the Second Schedule<br />

hereto.<br />

(2) No Health Certificate shaU be granted to<br />

any person who is suffering from any<br />

contagious or infectious disease or who has<br />

an open exposed cut, abrasion or sore on<br />

his person or who appears to the Officer to<br />

whom appUcation i& made not to maintain<br />

habits of personal cleanliness. For the<br />

purpose of ascertaining whether a Health<br />

Certfficate may properly be granted to any<br />

person, the Officer to whom appUcation is<br />

made may require such person to be<br />

medicaUy examined.<br />

(3) Any Health Certificate granted under<br />

paragraph (1) hereof may be canceUed at<br />

any time or suspended for such time as to<br />

the Medical Officer may seem fit if the<br />

holder is found by the Medical Officer to<br />

suffer from a contagious or infectious<br />

disease or has an exposed cut, abrasion or<br />

sore on his person or if it appears to the<br />

Medical Officer that he does not maintain<br />

habits of personal cleanliness.<br />

(4) A person to whom a Health Certificate<br />

imder paragraph (1) hereof is granted shaU<br />

upon the demand of any member of the<br />

Board or of the Medical Officer, produce<br />

for inspection such certificate to any such<br />

member or to the Medical Officer."<br />

6. <strong>The</strong> following regulation shaU be inserted in<br />

the Principal Regulations immediately after<br />

regulation 44 thereof:—<br />

" 44A.—(1) <strong>The</strong> owner or manager of any<br />

hotel, camp, restaurant, bar, coflfee-shop,<br />

slaughter-house, bakery or any place in which<br />

food or drink is prepared or served or is sold<br />

or exposed for sale within the sanitary area shall,<br />

at the beginning of the Summer Season in each<br />

year, fumish the Board with a Ust of all persons<br />

employed by him in any of the estabUshments<br />

above mentioned.<br />

(2) <strong>The</strong> owner or manager of any of the<br />

estabUshments in paragraph (1) hereof mentioned<br />

shall at once notify the Board of any change<br />

occurring during the summer season in any Ust<br />

suppUed by him under the provisions of<br />

paragraph (1) of this regulation."<br />
