It i.s hereby notified for general information that, on and from the lst April, 1936, and until<br />

furthw notice, the combined rate of postage on any kind of postal packet, that is, letters, printed papers,<br />

commercial papers, samples and postcards, posted in Cypru.s and intended for transmission by air from<br />

Egypt or Palestine will be as shown in the Schedule hereto. <strong>The</strong> limits of size and maximum weight<br />

are the same as for similar correspondence sent bj* ordinary post.<br />

2. A special blue Air Mail label must be afl&xed to the top left-hand comer of every Air Mail packet.<br />

<strong>The</strong>se labels may be obtained free of charge at any Post Ofiice. Packets bearing a manuscript iadicatioa<br />

" By Air Mail " wiU be accepted, but the absence of an Air Mail label may lead to delay.<br />

3. Cj'prus pobLage stamps to the full value of the postage must be affixed to the top right-hand<br />

comer of the address side of the envelope. Any packet which is not folly prepaid with the Air Mail fee<br />

will not be forwarded by air.<br />

4. A packet intended for transmission by air may be posted in any of the ordinary ways of posting.<br />

It can be accepted for r^istration at any Post Office ; but it cannot at present be insured.<br />

5. Air Mail correspondence posted in <strong>Cyprus</strong> and despatched by the Khedivial mailship, leaving<br />

Limassol every Saturday, secures connection with :<br />

(a) <strong>The</strong> Air Mail which leaves Alexandria ever\' Tuesday for Greece and Europe generally and<br />

arri\ es in London the following Thursday ;<br />

(6) Ine Air Mail which leaves Cairo every Monday for East and South Africa and arrives at<br />

Capetown the following SunrLx} ; and<br />

(c) <strong>The</strong> Air Mail which leaves Alexandria every Tuesday for India-Australia and arrives at<br />

.SinL'tpore the following Sundaj^ and at Darwin the following Tuesday.<br />

6. A new branch air .service has been established between the Sudan and Nigeria. Air Mail<br />

correspondence for French Equatorial Africa, the Cameroon-, Nigeria, Dahomey and the Gold Coast,<br />

if -ent via Cairo as in paragraph 5 (b) above, will secure connection with the Air Mail which leavei<br />

Khartoum every Tuesday and arrives at Kano (Nigeria) the following day.<br />

7. Air ^lail correspondence posted in time for despatch by the Lloyd Triestino steamer, leaving<br />

Lamaca for Jaffa every Sunda\, will secure connection with the air mails which leave Gaza every:<br />

{a< Monday for (ireece and Europe generally, and arri\e in London the following Thursday; and<br />

(b) Tuesday for India-AustraUa, and arrive at Singapore the following Sunday and at Darwin<br />

the following Tuesday.<br />

8. Correspondence for the American Continent will be despatched by air from Eg\ pt or Palestine<br />

to London and then by ordinarv- route. Correspondence for the United States of America may, if<br />

pppaid with the appropriate rate of postage and suitably superscribed, be forwarded from Egypt' by<br />

air to London, by sea to New York and thence by the Domestic Air Services in the United States of<br />

America.<br />

9. <strong>The</strong> latest times of porting and any further information can be ascertained by enauirv at any<br />

10. Post Office Noti' es pubhshed under Notification Nos. 172 and 902, in the <strong>Cyprus</strong> <strong>Gazette</strong><br />

Nos 2423 and 2459 of the loth February, 1935, and 9th August, 1935, respectively, are hereby<br />

cancelled.<br />
