THE CYPRUS GAZETTE, 23BD OCTOBER, 1936.
IMPORTATION or RAGS AND OLD CLOTHING.
With reference to paragraph 4 of the Order in
CouncU No. 1704, made under the Customs Law,
1936, pubUshed in the Gazette No. 2537 of the 14th
September, 1936, it is hereby notified for general
information that the importation into Cyprus
of rags and old clothing is prohibited except under
the foUowing conditions :—
1. AppUcations for Ucence to import rags and
old clothing, intended for personal use or for
sale, shaU be addressed to the Director of
Medical Services stating :
(a) in the case of old clothing—the nature,
quaUty and quantity of clothing and the
country of origin, and
(6) in the case of rags—the quantity, country
of origin and proposed use of the rags
following importation.
2. That the goods are landed only at the ports
of Famagusta, Lamaca and Limassol.
3. That they are accompanied by a certificate
deUvered by the competent sanitary officer of
the port of exportation to the eflfect that the
goods in question have been properly disinfected
or deloused prior to shipment.
4. That the goods so imported shall be
subjected to such disinfection as the Port Medical
Officer may direct to be carried out at the risk
of the importer.
5. The disinfection fee to be 15s. per ton or
part thereof.
6. AppUcations for Ucence to import rags and
old clothing from areas declared infected with
either Plague, SmaUpox, Typhus or Cholera
TriU not be considered.

No. 1018 Quarantine Restrictions.
The attention of the public is invited to the
Notiiication made on the 10th October, 1936, by
His Excellency the Governor pursuant to the
-Quarantine Law, 1932, and pnblished in the Cyprus
Gazette of the 16th October, 1936, whereby it was
declared that the following local areas were infected
local areas and that all passengers and goods therefrom
would be subject to the measures prescribed by the
Quarantine Regulations, 1932, with respect to the
dangerous infectious diseases set forth against each
