MADE UNDER<br />

THE QUARANTINE LAW, 1932.<br />

Governor.<br />

In exercise of the powers vested in him by the<br />

Quarantine Law, 1932, His Excellency the<br />

Governor, with the advice of the Executive<br />

Council, has been pleased to make and hereby<br />

makes the following regulations :—<br />

1. <strong>The</strong>se Regulations may be cited as the<br />

Quarantine (Amendment) Regulations, 1936, and<br />

shall be read as one wdth the Quarantine<br />

Regulations, 1932 to 1934, (hereinafter called<br />

" the Principal Regulations "), and the Principal<br />

Regulations and these Regulations may together<br />

be cited as the Quarantine Regulations, 1932<br />

to 1936.<br />

2. <strong>The</strong> Principal Regulations are hereby<br />

amended by the insertion immediately after<br />

Regulation 19 of the following heading and<br />

regulation :—<br />

" DENGUE.<br />

FRIDAY, 17TH JANUARY, 1936. 4i<br />

19A. Vessels coming from a port in which<br />

there is an epidemic of DengUv.. Fever shall be<br />

subjected to the following measures :—<br />

(a) Boarding.—<strong>The</strong> doctor, or failing him the<br />

captain, shall give a reply to the question :<br />

' Are there, or have there been, on board<br />

any persons suffering from dengue fever ?'<br />

(b) Medical Inspection.—Patients who have<br />

developed dengye fever within less than<br />

five days and desire to leave the ship shall<br />

be landed by day and shall be isolated on<br />

land, in accordance with the instructions<br />

of the Port Health Officer, under<br />

conditions which shelter them from<br />

mosquito bites, until a period of five days<br />

has elapsed sinee the illness began.<br />

(c) Inspection of the ship in order to<br />

ascertain that there are no stegomyia on<br />

board, taking into account any measures<br />

already taken on the voyage. If any<br />

stegomjaa are found on board the Port<br />

Health Officer may have the mosquitoes<br />

destroyed.<br />

(d) In exceptiorial cases, the Port Health<br />

Officer may, if he considers that<br />

circumstances render it necessary, place<br />

under surveillance those passengers who<br />

have disembarked and confine the crew<br />

on board except for purpose of duty, until<br />

a period of eight daj^s has elapsed since<br />

they were exposed to infection."<br />

THE TREE PLANTING VILLAGE AREAS-<br />

LAWS, 1930 AND 1935.<br />

Governor.<br />

Whereas at a meeting duly convened and held<br />

at the village of Yerasa, in the District of Limassol,.<br />

on the Sth day of May, 1935, it was determined<br />

by the voters present thereat that a certain area<br />

should be reserved as the Tree Planting Area of<br />

the village of Yerasa :<br />

And whereas at the said meeting the boundaries<br />

of the said area have been fixed and described :<br />

And whereas the Mukhtar of the village of<br />

Yerasa has forw^arded to the Commissioner of<br />

the District of Limassol a report, signed and sealed<br />

by him, containing a description with boundaries<br />

of the said area and stating that the said area<br />

fulfils the conditions in section 10 (4) of the Tree<br />

Planting Village Areas Law, 1930, prescribed :<br />

And whereas the said Commissioner has transmitted<br />

the said report, together with his recommendations,<br />

to the Colonial Secretary for the<br />

consideration of the Governor :<br />

And whereas the Governor considers it expedient,<br />

having regard to all the circumstances, that the<br />

area in the said report described should be reserved<br />

as the Tree Planting Area of the village of Yerasa.<br />
