Chapter 11 – Laminating and Bonding Techniques 93
Spacers to keep
timber off floor
and ease
clamping.
Clamps (plenty of them)
should be clean and easy to
adjust before the laminating
process begins.
Knees or cleats nailed to
lofting on floor. Knees on
inside can be positioned to
allow adjustment of timber
with wedges.
and place them at the desired distance from one another.
at desired intervals. Add any additional bracing that is
needed to make the structure sufficiently sturdy. Using
additional crosspieces to press the lamination material
against the form, clamp the laminating stock to this
form by positioning a clamp at either edge of the mold
form.
Often, the hull framework itself serves as a natural
laminating form, and you can save a great deal of time
by taking advantage of this. Take special care that no
damage occurs to the framework during the laminating
