Traditional Arts In Context<br />

Overall aim of the project: To create an exchange that aims to develop through collaborative intercultural activities<br />

(workshops) with <strong>learning</strong> providers and individual learners in peer group training sessions. The participants will gain<br />

new knowledge, skills and experience resulting in the development of a multicultural community based celebration<br />

developed by the participants. This project has been developed in response to requests from learners and workers within<br />

the network of partner organisations. These partner groups all work in disadvantaged communities using “the arts” as a<br />

means of social, personal and professional development. More specifically these organisations use a variety of art form<br />

including: doll making, storyTelling, festivals, arts and crafts and music as a means of social intervention and a way of<br />

celebrating the diversity of cultural heritage to be found within minorities across Europe. This project has inspired by<br />

the way different cultures; communities and nationalities celebrate. This will be a project for participants to show and<br />

express through arts works that draws upon cultural traditions/heritage, but which is very much informed by<br />

contemporary social and political issues.<br />
