My Voice<br />

This project considers the development of learner focused community education that is based on the personal needs<br />

and circumstances through the active listening of potential learners so that they can actively design <strong>learning</strong><br />

programmes that meet their needs. This will be initially achieved through the research and examination of different<br />

European approaches and methodology in engaging the participation of hard to reach learners and citizens within rural<br />

and urban districts. Adult and Community Education (Life Long Learning) has a variety of aims and objectives that<br />

differ from country to country. This project concentrates on the <strong>learning</strong> providers being non-formal community and<br />

voluntary sector based organisations that have the mutual aim of encouraging active community participation. A key<br />

objective in all countries is the active participation of the most disadvantaged members of the community and the<br />

active encouragement to become active citizens. The project aims to examine the <strong>learning</strong> and empowerment journeys<br />

of European citizens that want to learn in order to improve their circumstances but lack the confidence and resilience<br />

to make steps into formal education or take part in community initiatives.<br />
