Trichinella nativa diagnosis and control. This training was held on<br />
April 28 th through to May 2 nd at our NRC facilities and was given<br />
by the Federal Government’s Canadian Food Inspection Agency.<br />
Goose Banding<br />
The Canadian Wildlife Service and the US Fish and Wildlife conducted<br />
goose banding work this year. Operations were based out<br />
of Aupaluk for the Ungava Bay and Puvirnituq for the Hudson Bay<br />
coast. Banding took place in August and production was good in<br />
Ungava Bay, but below average in Hudson Bay.<br />

Beluga Sample Collection<br />
Sixty-seven beluga kits were received from Nunavik hunters<br />
in the <strong>2014</strong> season. The beluga teeth will be aged and dataset<br />
and samples for diet and genetic stock identity will be sent to the<br />
Department of Fisheries and Oceans laboratories.<br />
Barrie Ford, Michael K.H. Kwan, Peter May, Sandy Suppa, Audrey<br />
Lepenna et Manon Simard ont participé à la session de formation<br />
portant sur le diagnostic et le contrôle de Trichinella nativa. Cette<br />
formation, donnée par l’Agence canadienne d’inspection des aliments<br />
du gouvernement du Canada, s’est déroulée du 28 avril au<br />
2 mai dans les installations du CRN.<br />
Étude sur la sauvagine<br />
Le Service canadien de la faune et le US Fish and Wildlife ont<br />
mené des activités de baguage des bernaches encore une fois<br />
cette année. Les opérations étaient basées à Aupaluk pour la baie<br />
d’Ungava et à Puvirnituq pour la baie d’Hudson. Le baguage a eu<br />
lieu en août et la production a été bonne sur la côte de l’Ungava,<br />
mais inférieure à la moyenne sur la côte de l’Hudson.<br />

Collecte d’échantillon de béluga<br />
Soixante-sept trousses d’échantillons de béluga ont été transmises<br />
par les chasseurs du Nunavik en <strong>2014</strong>. Nous établirons l’âge<br />
des dents de béluga, et les données concernant l’alimentation et<br />
l’identité génétique seront transmises aux laboratoires de Pêches<br />
et Océans Canada.<br />
