Makivik’s Corporate Objectives
• To receive, administer, use and invest the compensation money intended for the Inuit, as provided for
in the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement.
• To relieve poverty and to promote the welfare, advancement, and education of the Inuit.
• To foster, promote, protect and assist in preserving the Inuit way of life, values and traditions.
• To initiate, expand and develop opportunities for the Inuit to participate in the economic development of their society.
• To exercise the functions vested in it by other acts or the Agreement.
• To develop and improve the Inuit communities and to improve their means of actions.
• To assist in the creation, financing or developing of businesses, resources, properties and industries of the Inuit.
Objectifs de la Société Makivik
• Recevoir, administrer, utiliser et investir l’indemnité destinée aux Inuit, conformément aux dispositions
de la Convention de la Baie-James et du Nord québécois.
• Lutter contre la pauvreté et promouvoir le bien-être, le progrès et l’éducation des Inuit.
• Encourager, promouvoir et protéger le mode de vie, les valeurs et les traditions des Inuit, ainsi que
contribuer à leur conservation.
• Créer, stimuler et développer des occasions permettant aux Inuit de participer à l’expansion
économique de leur société.
• Exercer les autres fonctions que lui dévoluent les autres lois ou la Convention.
• Développer les communautés inuites et perfectionner leurs moyens d’action.
• Aider à la création, au financement ou au développement d’entreprises, de ressources, de biens ou
d’industries appartenant aux Inuit.
