The Enrolment Office
The Enrolment Program continues to support Nunavik beneficiaries
with essential services. To ensure beneficiaries have access to these
services, Makivik provides valid beneficiary identification cards and
enlists them for benefits that Makivik offers and ensures beneficiaries
have access to programs administered by other organizations.
We have made some modifications this year within the Enrolment
Office administration. We now have one employee administering
the program, Nancy White, who continues to work as the
Enrolment Registrar. Nancy White works with the Local Enrolment
Committees processing under the direction of the Local Landholding
Corporations.
We continuously seek how we can improve the services of the
Enrolment Office on many fronts whether it be within Makivik
Corporation and its subsidiaries or with other regional organizations
that also provide services specifically to beneficiaries of the
James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement.
Although we have yet to achieve the final transfer agreement
with the Québec Government, it will be the priority of the Enrolment
Office to finalize the transfer agreement. This will ensure Makivik
and Nunavik Inuit take full responsibility of its own affairs when it
comes to the Enrolment Office.
I would further like to extend my thanks to the commitment of
the Landholding Corporations as well as the appointed Elders that
comprise the Local Enrolment Committees and I look forward to
working with you in the years to come.

Le Bureau d’inscription du Nunavik
Le Bureau d’inscription continue d’offrir ses services essentiels
aux bénéficiaires du Nunavik. Makivik fournit des cartes d’identité
confirmant le statut de bénéficiaire aux Inuits du Nunavik afin que
ces derniers aient accès sans problème aux avantages offerts par la
Société et à divers programmes administrés par d’autres organisations.
Quelques modifications ont été apportées cette année à
l’administration du Bureau d’inscription. Nancy White administre le
programme et coordonne ses diverses activités. Elle travaille étroitement
avec les comités locaux d’inscription qui fonctionnent sous
la direction des corporations foncières des diverses communautés
du Nunavik.
Nous cherchons constamment à améliorer le fonctionnement
du Bureau d’inscription et les services offerts aux bénéficiaires par
Makivik et ses filiales ou d’autres organisations régionales qui offrent
également des services aux bénéficiaires de la Convention de la Baie-
James et du Nord québécois.
Makivik s’efforcera au cours de la prochaine année de conclure avec
le gouvernement du Québec l’accord final de transfert concernant
l’administration du programme d’inscription des bénéficiaires de la
CBJNQ. Makivik et les Inuits du Nunavik pourront ainsi pleinement
assumer la responsabilité du fonctionnement du Bureau d’inscription.
Il importe de souligner le travail des administrateurs des corporations
foncières et des aînés qui forment le comité d’inscription local
dans chacune des communautés du Nunavik. Makivik continuera
d’appuyer leur travail au cours des années à venir.
