For more than 40 years, Inuit<br />
Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK) has provided<br />
a united Inuit voice advocating<br />
for the advancement of Canadian<br />
Inuit, respect for our culture and<br />
rights, and parity in social development<br />
and economic opportunities<br />
with other Canadians. As global<br />
attention on the Arctic continues to<br />
intensify, particularly in the area of<br />
natural resource development, the<br />
need for a united Canadian Inuit<br />
voice has become increasingly<br />
important.<br />
Governments and industry<br />
around the world are focusing on<br />
the potential for development in an<br />
increasingly accessible Arctic and<br />
ITK continues to advocate for the<br />
importance of Inuit involvement<br />
at all levels and stages in decisions<br />
about Arctic resources. We want<br />
to ensure that any such development is carried out in a manner<br />
respectful of the environment and to those of us who call it home,<br />
providing opportunities to Inuit by way of partnerships, employment,<br />
and economic growth.<br />
