preservation electronically. These important documents include
initial negotiation documents, meeting minutes, maps as well as
voice and video recordings from the early 1970s. These records have
shaped the base of our operation today. The historic and educational
records are in the midst of being protected for generations to
come, as it is our future aim to have them used within our schools.
This past year, the Corporation, after quite some time, completed
its first Board of Directors’ training session. The training session
included the following: an overview of their responsibilities, the
operational structure of Makivik including its By-Laws & Charter,
and affirming the core operational values of the Corporation on
behalf of Inuit. This training was productive and the feedback after
the training from our Board of Directors was positive and we feel
more confident about delivering our services to the region. With
the Board of Directors elections looming upon us this year, we will
ensure we deliver this type of training to any new members that
may come aboard.
With the new recognition award introduced at last years’ AGM
in Ivujivik, Makivik will continue to recognize individuals who have
provided extensive services to the region and its beneficiaries.
This year, we will carry forward this tradition through the Order of
Nunavik and make Nunavik proud. Every year in January, Makivik
will select deserving individuals to be awarded the Order of Nunavik
at the Makivik Annual General Meeting.
Our collaboration with the Landholding Corporations and the
Landholding Association continues to develop through sharing
responsibilities on overlapping issues that we collectively work
on. Roughly every quarter of a year, a small committee composed
of members of Makivik and the Landholding Association work to

canadien.
Nous avons entrepris de trier et d’organiser les documents
contenus dans des centaines de boîtes afin de les préparer pour
l’archivage et leur conservation sur support électronique. Cela comprend
notamment des documents portant sur les rondes initiales de
négociation de la CBJNQ, des procès-verbaux de réunions, des cartes
et des enregistrements audio et vidéo du début des années 1970.
Ces documents témoignent de l’époque ayant donné naissance
à notre organisation actuelle. Ils seront bientôt protégés pour les
générations futures, et pourront être utilisés dans les écoles.
La Société a offert pour la première fois depuis de nombreuses
années une séance de formation à l’intention des membres du
conseil de direction. Cette séance portait sur les sujets suivants : les
responsabilités des administrateurs, la structure opérationnelle de
Makivik, incluant ses règlements et sa loi constituante, et les valeurs
défendues par la Société dans ses actions et ses interventions faites
au nom des Inuits. Cette formation a connu un franc succès et a
permis de renforcer la confiance des membres du bureau de direction
dans l’exercice de leurs fonctions. Nous prévoyons offrir cette
formation à tous les nouveaux membres du conseil de direction
élus lors des élections se tenant dans les diverses communautés
du Nunavik.
Makivik entend poursuivre le programme de reconnaissance
lancé lors de l’AGA d’Ivujivik en 2014. Nous souhaitons établir une
nouvelle tradition en remettant l’Ordre du Nunavik à des individus
méritants ayant rendu de grands services à la région et à ses
bénéficiaires. En janvier de toutes les années, Makivik choisira des
