This year has been a very productive year for the office of the
Corporate Secretary and I will elaborate on our work and our achievements
so far.
I will start off with Nunavik youth – the finalization of a new
action plan has come to fruition, which will create a new Nunavik
youth entity. As I have reported before, a committee was created
to look at different options to provide a proper representative body
was enacted on behalf of youth. I am happy to inform that we have
come to a conclusion that a new structure and a new composition
of the board is necessary to provide efficient and proper representation
of our youth.
It was our main objective to regain proper representation for
our Nunavik youth population, as it is imperative for services to
continue for their benefit and for Nunavik’s future. It is our intent
that this new youth entity will be successful in its objectives of
providing services for the youth, by the youth.
As you may have noticed, Makivik has revamped Makivik
Magazine and we hope that this improvement will continue to be
both informative as well as entertaining as it has been for decades.
We continue to look for interesting and educational stories for
Nunavimmiut to learn about as this is one of our means of reaching
out to our beneficiaries.
The Makivik Magazine and the Annual Report are important to
us because it allows us to communicate to beneficiaries about our
activities and the results of the hard work of the Executives and
staff within the Corporation. It is not always easy to achieve the

La dernière année a été très productive pour le bureau du secrétaire
du Conseil. Les paragraphes qui suivent présentent brièvement
notre travail et nos réalisations récentes.
Je tiens tout d’abord à souligner l’adoption d’un plan d’action
qui permettra aux jeunes du Nunavik de créer une nouvelle entité
chargée de les représenter. Comme je l’avais mentionné dans le
précédent rapport, un comité a été créé pour examiner différentes
options en vue de mettre en place un organe représentatif répondant
plus adéquatement aux besoins des jeunes. Je suis heureux
de vous informer que ce comité recommande l’adoption d’une
structure et d’un conseil de direction qui devraient s’avérer plus
souples et mieux adaptés aux besoins des jeunes.
L’objectif principal était de trouver un mode de représentation
adéquat pour les jeunes du Nunavik de manière à leur offrir les
services dont ils ont besoin pour assurer leur avenir et celui du
Nunavik. Nous croyons que cette nouvelle entité sera couronnée
de succès et qu’elle atteindra son objectif de prestation de services
pour les jeunes, par les jeunes.
Comme vous l’avez certainement noté, le Makivik Magazine
a subi une cure de rajeunissement, et nous espérons qu’il
continuera d’être à la fois aussi informatif et divertissant que
par le passé. Nous sommes toujours à l’affut d’histoires intéressantes
et éducatives pour les Nunavimmiut, puisque
le magazine a pour but de bien informer les bénéficiaires.
Le magazine et le rapport annuel sont deux véhicules très
importants afin d’informer les bénéficiaires au sujet des
