<strong>Revitalization</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Rivers</strong> In <strong>India</strong><br />

<strong>Draft</strong> <strong>Policy</strong> Recommendation<br />

We then compare the <strong>in</strong>come from our multi-fruit model with<br />

<strong>in</strong>comes from various s<strong>in</strong>gle-fruit crops. Further, we exam<strong>in</strong>e the<br />

additional <strong>in</strong>come <strong>in</strong> our model from timber and non-timber produce. We<br />

also look at the additional <strong>in</strong>come from livestock, as well as the sav<strong>in</strong>gs <strong>in</strong><br />

agricultural <strong>in</strong>put costs if livestock is ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>ed. Similarly, we exam<strong>in</strong>e<br />

the <strong>in</strong>come from <strong>in</strong>tercropp<strong>in</strong>g and the sav<strong>in</strong>gs <strong>in</strong> the cost <strong>of</strong> agricultural<br />

production if <strong>in</strong>tercropp<strong>in</strong>g is done.<br />

In the base earn<strong>in</strong>g model for the farmer, we have assumed that<br />

the horticulture produce is <strong>of</strong> the normal <strong>in</strong>organic k<strong>in</strong>d, and not <strong>of</strong> the<br />

organic k<strong>in</strong>d. Given that, the resultant earn<strong>in</strong>gs <strong>of</strong> the farmer would<br />

become Rs. 1.8 lakh per annum by year 5, and Rs. 3.2 lakh per annum by<br />

year 10 (See Table 7).<br />
