ALKALINE PROPERTIES OF FRUITS AND VEGETABLES<br />

The metabolic, enzymatic, immunologic, and repair mechanisms function at their<br />

best when an alkal<strong>in</strong>e environment is ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong> the body. Most vegetables<br />

and fruits act as m<strong>in</strong>eral-buffer<strong>in</strong>g reserves conta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g higher proportions <strong>of</strong><br />

alkal<strong>in</strong>e-form<strong>in</strong>g elements that are essential to the ma<strong>in</strong>tenance <strong>of</strong> susta<strong>in</strong>ed<br />

health. Increased fruits and vegetables may improve the K/Na ratio, help<br />

prevent plaque formation <strong>in</strong> blood vessels, stop calcium from accumulat<strong>in</strong>g<br />

<strong>in</strong> ur<strong>in</strong>e, prevent kidney stones, build stronger bones, and boost the immune<br />

system. It helps to balance body pH, reduce morbidity and mortality from<br />

numerous chronic diseases or ailments such as hypertension, diabetes, arthritis,<br />

vitam<strong>in</strong> D deficiency and low bone density. It causes more alkal<strong>in</strong>e ur<strong>in</strong>e pH<br />

level which helps protect healthy cells and balance essential m<strong>in</strong>eral levels.<br />

The resultant <strong>in</strong>crease <strong>in</strong> growth hormone may also improve many outcomes<br />

from cardiovascular health to memory and cognition. It may lead to <strong>in</strong>crease <strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>in</strong>tracellular magnesium, which is required for the function <strong>of</strong> many enzyme<br />
