TRAINING AND PRUNING<br />

The ma<strong>in</strong> branches should be allowed to appear at a height <strong>of</strong> 0.75-1 m above the<br />

ground level. Plants should be tra<strong>in</strong>ed to modified central leader system. Two to<br />

four branches with wide crotch angle, appear<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the opposite directions should<br />

be encouraged <strong>in</strong> early years.<br />

Dur<strong>in</strong>g March – April, prune and th<strong>in</strong> the crowded branches to provide maximum<br />

fruit bear<strong>in</strong>g area <strong>in</strong> the tree.besides, the <strong>in</strong>determ<strong>in</strong>ate branches may be headed<br />

back at 2/3 level from its orig<strong>in</strong>.<br />
